UdG XXI Model

The goal of the model is to define the university’s own educational model, which makes the UdG unique and responds to the new challenges and social changes anticipated in the sphere of learning in our society.This has to describe which type of learning we want to promote and which conditions are needed to make it possible, as well as the necessary support to implement it and to improve it in a continuous process of review.

The rollout plan for the model consists of 21 goals grouped into the following 8 areas.

Description:
To educate students in an ever more complex world, it is essential to ensure they have a variety of learning opportunities in context that allow them to develop essential skills.The University of Girona must provide experiences that promote critical thinking, social engagement and sustainability, inclusion and teamwork, taking into account the gender perspective, and students’ diverse backgrounds and opportunities.This process cannot be based on a standard student educational model but on personalised development through rich life experiences, while adapting and periodically revising skills in line with the evolution of the world and society.

Today’s society, characterised by volatility and uncertainty, calls for a new educational paradigm.We are in the face of a reality in which the traditional profession vanishes and the work stability is every time less guaranteed.In the face of this situation, the persons will have to adapt themselves constantly, acquiring new learnings and updating along the life.On the other hand, and highlighting the changes without precedents of the 21st century with respect to the ageing of the population, the silver generation, or that acquaintance as baby boomers, they are arriving at the age of the retirement with a health optimum and with desires to continue developing and learning new knowledge and competences.The University of Girona can play a key role in the change of perspective towards the ageing that these facts generate, offering an education of quality for this generation that has the great luck of being able to learn for pleasure.The benefits of these changes will not limit themselves only to the biggest population, but they can have a transforming effect about the current conceptions of the learning, reconsidering it as a form of personal enrichment, beyond the purely instrumental approaches that can impoverish the education and question its sense.
