Requirements:
- Once printed, the degree certificates and the EDS will be sent to the Academic Administration Section of the Academic and Student Administration Service, which will notify graduates by email and provide instructions to pick up the certificate and the supplement.
- The notification opens a period of five calendar years to collect the degree certificate. The expiry of this deadline may result in the destruction of the certificate, in accordance with current regulations.
Procedure:
- To collect certificates and Diploma Supplements, you will need to request an appointment in advance .
- Graduates must pick up the degree certificate in person, presenting official proof of identity and signing the registry to confirm that they have picked up the degree certificate. If the degree certificate has been applied for in person (in the academic secretary's office), they must also submit the decree certificate payment receipt, which will no longer be valid once the degree certificate has been issued.
- Under Spain’s regulations on official education degrees (Ministry of Education and Culture Order of 8 July 1988 - BOE no. 167, of 13 July 1988), the person concerned may only authorise another person to pick up their official degree certificates through a notarised power of attorney. The person so authorised must submit an official document that identifies them, their notarised power of attorney, a photocopy of the person concerned’s identification document and, where necessary, the degree certificate’s payment receipt.*
- In the case of EDSs and specific degrees from the University of Girona, the person concerned may authorise another person to collect them through an authorisation form for collecting documents (which can be downloaded from the Forms page). The authorised person must submit official proof of identity, the duly completed authorisation form (preferably with original signature) and a photocopy of the graduate’s official identification document.
- The graduate should confirm that all the information on the degree certificate is correct before signing it. The certificate is valid only after it is signed.
(*) Notarised powers of attorney, whether general or specifically for this procedure, are valid for the collection of official university degrees. In any case they must be signed by a notary and state the personal details (name and surnames, nationality, ID number, place and date of birth) of the attorney and the person granting them their power of attorney. As for powers of attorney issued abroad, these may require diplomatic legalisation or even a Hague Apostille (except for those issued from EU countries).
