Requirements:
- Once printed, the degree certificates and the EDS will be sent to the Academic Administration Section of the Academic and Student Administration Service, which will notify graduates by email and provide instructions to pick up the certificate and the supplement.
- The deadline for the collection of the certificate it is five years, counting from the date of issue.The expiry of this deadline may result in the destruction of the certificate, in accordance with current regulations (Order of 8 July 1988).
Procedure:
- To collect certificates and SETs, you are advised to request an appointment.
- Graduates must pick up the degree certificate in person, presenting official proof of identity and signing the registry to confirm that they have picked up the degree certificate.
- In accordance with Spanish regulations (Order of 8 July 1988), graduates may grant legal authorisation for another person to collect their certificate for them; in this case the authorised person must have an official document that identifies them, the power of attorney granted and a photocopy of the graduate’s identification document. Notarial powers of attorney with electronic signatures sent by electronic mail are accepted at present.
- In the case of EDSs and specific degrees from the University of Girona, the person concerned may authorise another person to collect them through an authorisation form for collecting documents (which can be downloaded from the Forms page).The authorised person must submit official proof of identity, the duly completed authorisation form (preferably with original signature) and a photocopy of the graduate’s official identification document.
- The graduate should confirm that all the information on the degree certificate is correct before signing it. The certificate is valid only after it is signed.
(*) Notarised powers of attorney, whether general or specifically for this procedure, are valid for the collection of official university degrees.In any case they must be signed by a notary and state the personal details (name and surnames, nationality, ID number, place and date of birth) of the attorney and the person granting them their power of attorney.As for powers of attorney issued abroad, these may require diplomatic legalisation or even a Hague Apostille (except for those issued from EU countries).
