The University of Girona Choir offers the chance to take part in a committed group of choral singers and play music at rehearsals and concerts together with other members of the university community. If you do this activity, you can get academic credit.

How to be join the choir

To join the choir, all you have to do is contact the choir director via email: cor@udg.edu

An appointment will be made to chat about this opportunity and fill out a form with your details. You will also be given a simple voice test to determine your tessitura and the vocal range you should sing.

If you participate in eighty percent of the rehearsals and concerts throughout the year, you can obtain credit on your academic record.

The rehearsals are held every Thursday from 6 to 8 pm in music room S-134 in the Faculty of Education and Psychology. The aim of rehearsals is to provide the singers with vocal and musical training so they are ready to entertain audiences at academic, cultural or festive events.

Short history

The University of Girona Choir was set up in 1998 by teacher Joan de la Creu Godoy i Tomàs and he directed it for twenty years. Over the years, it has sought to be a cultural and artistic tool for the university community. Students, PDI and PAS can find in the choir the chance to take part in a musical activity that grows and improves by the day.

Some of these include concerts for the inauguration of the academic year, formal events, Honoris Causa, exchanges with others university choirs, trips, the Christmas concert, autumn and spring concerts and participation in the Temps de Flors and “Girona A Capella” festivals.
