Master’s degree grants

University of Girona grants for master's-degree students

This is a unified call for applications incorporating grants promoted by Nexus Geographics and the Chair of Information and Computing, the Calonge-Sant Antoni Chair of Gastronomy, Culture and Tourism, the ATL Drinking Water Chair, and the TII/UdG educational funding agreement.

  

These grants are administered through the specific streams detailed in the annexes for each master's degree programme, which can be found in the call's terms and conditions.

  • Annex I: "Nexus Geographics-Chair of Information and Computing" grant call for the Master's Degree in Data Science at the University of Girona (2026-2027 academic year).One grant is offered for the Master's Degree in Data Science. 
  • Annex II: "Calonge-Sant Antoni Chair of Gastronomy, Culture and Tourism (University of Girona)" grants for the Master's Degree in Cultural Tourism at the University of Girona—specifically within the fields of Cultural Heritage, Cultural Tourism and Gastronomic Heritage—for the 2026-2027 academic year.A total of two grants are offered for the master's degree in Cultural Tourism.The value of each grant is €5,250.
  • Annex III: "Calonge-Sant Antoni Chair of Gastronomy, Culture and Tourism (University of Girona)" grants for the Master's Degree in Food Biotechnology at the University of Girona—specifically within the fields of Cultural Heritage, Cultural Tourism and Gastronomic Heritage—for the 2026-2027 academic year.A total of three grants are offered for the master's degree in Biotechnology. The value of each grant is €3,500.
  • Annex IV: "University of Girona ATL Drinking Water Chair" grants for University of Girona Master's degree studies in the field of drinking water for the 2026-2027 academic year.Two grants are being offered: one for the Master's degree in Water Resources Science and Technology and the other for the Master's degree in Environmental Change and Socio-ecological Transition.The maximum value of each grant is €4,660.20.
  • Annex V: "TII/UdG Educational Funding Agreement" grants for the University of Girona Master's degree in Intelligent Robotic Systems (MIRS) for the 2026-2027 academic year.Grants are awarded in two categories: a) 4 grants for international non-European Union students of €5,000. b) 8 grants for Spanish nationals and/or residents or citizens of the European Union of €3,000.
Eligible applicants: Individuals who have pre-enrolled in the Master's degree programmes listed in the annexes may apply for the grants, provided they meet the admission requirements for official Master's degree studies and hold a university bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification granting access to the programme.

Budget allocation and amount of grant:
 
The grants will be intended to cover a maximum of the amount of academic teaching fees for the enrolment of 60 credits of the corresponding master's degree for the 2026-2027 academic year (30 credits for students enrolling in the second year of a 90-credit master's degree).
Other amounts linked to enrolment, such as those corresponding to file management or online teaching and administrative services, or school insurance, must be paid by the person receiving the grant.
The specific aspects related to the budget allocation and the amount of the grants is determined in annexes I, II, III, IV and V of these rules, which form an integral part of the call for applications and are binding for all purposes

Submission of applications:  the deadline is 18 September 2026, at 23:59 (Girona local time).

Requirements:

To qualify as beneficiaries of the grants, applicants must meet the following requirements by the application submission deadline:

For first year master’s students:
a) hold a qualification that grants access to the master's degree programme in accordance with current regulations;
b) for students who completed their studies at the UdG, having passed the credits for their bachelor's degree by the application submission deadline;
c) Not be in possession, nor meet the legal requirements for obtaining another official master's degree
d) Have completed the pre-enrolment, accompanied by all the required documentation, and have been admitted to any of the official master's degrees listed in the annexes.
e) To have paid the fee for the review of documentation and academic transcripts for the selection and assignment of the master's degree candidacy, in accordance with the decree of fees in effect for academic services at Catalan public universities
f) Not to have previously received these grants in previous calls.

For students in the second year of a 90 or 120-credit master's degree:
a) Have passed 100% of the credits from the first year of the master's degree programme.
b) Not have received this grant more than once in previous calls.

Call for enrolment grants for studying one of the master's degrees at the UdG included in the call.

  

Eligible applicants: Students enrolling on the first and/or second year of a 60, 90 or 120 ECTS master’s degree at the University of Girona (listed in Annex I of the call), with an average mark of 6.5 or higher in the academic record submitted for admission.In the case of second-year master's degree students, those who have an average academic record mark for the first year of the master's degree equal to or greater than 6.5 will be eligible to apply.

Provision of funding: The maximum amount for each grant will be the total amount corresponding to the enrolment on 60 credits of an official master's degree at the University of Girona for the 2026-2027 academic year.
This amount will be the sum established by the Government of Catalonia in the decree establishing the prices of academic services at public universities in Catalonia for the 2026-2027 academic year (30 credits for students enrolling on the second year of a master's degree of 90 credits)

Application deadline: Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. (Girona local time) on 7 July 2026.

Requirements:

Individuals interested in being beneficiaries of the grants must meet the following requisites, on the end date of the application submission period:

For first-year master's degree students:

  • Hold a qualification awarded by a university outside Spain that grants access to the master’s degree.
  • Not having a permit to reside in Spain.
  • Not being in possession, nor meeting the requirements for obtaining a certificate of the same level or higher, except in cases of a dual bachelor's degree within the framework of an agreement.
  • Have completed the pre-enrolment process for one of the official master’s degrees included in Annex I of the call (for new students).The master’s pre-enrolment application must include all required documents, including the Statement of Mark Equivalence issued by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports.
  • Having paid the fee for the study of the documentation and academic record for the selection and assignment of the candidacy for the Master's degree, in accordance with the current price decree for the academic services of Catalan public universities.
  • To have been accepted on the master's degree for which the applicant pre-enrolled.
  • Having an average grade on the academic record for the course providing access to a master's degree equal to or higher than 6.5.
  • Not having received this grant in previous calls.

For second-year students in a master's degree programme of 90 or 120 recognised credits:

  • Have an average grade in the first year of a master's degree equal to or greater than 6.5.
  • Having passed 100% of the credits in the first year of the master's degree.
  • Not having received this grant more than once in previous calls.

Call for enrolment grants for studying one of the master's degrees at the UdG included in the call.

  

Recipients: students who wish to enrol on an official master's degree programme at the UdG and meet the academic progress requirements established in the terms and conditions of the call by the day of the application deadline.

To apply for these grants applicants must be pre-enrolled on a master's programmes included in the call and have an average grade in their bachelor's degree, pre-EHEA degree or diploma academic transcript equal to or above 6.5.

REQUIREMENTS:

For first-year master's degree students:

  • Being in possession of a university degree or certificate substituting a degree that gives access to the master's degree issued by a university in the Spanish university system or having the official recognition or declaration of equivalence by the corresponding Ministry of a university degree issued by a foreign university.
  • For students who have studied at the UdG, they must have passed 240 credits of bachelor's degree studies by the deadline for submitting applications.
  • Being a resident of the European Union.
  • Having an average grade on the course providing access to a master's degree equal to or higher than 6.5.
  • Not be in possession of or meet the requirements for obtaining another official master's degree.
  • Having pre-enrolled on any of the official master's degrees listed in Annexe I of the call.
  • Having paid the fee for the study of the documentation and academic record for the selection and assignment of the candidacy for the Master's degree, in accordance with the current price decree for the academic services of Catalan public universities.
  • Pre-enrolment on the master’s degree must be completed with all the required documentation.
  • Not having received this grant in previous calls.

For second-year students in a master's degree programme of 90 or 120 recognised credits:

  • Have an average grade in the first year of a master's degree equal to or greater than 6.5.
  • Having passed 100% of the credits in the first year of the master's degree.
  • Not having received this grant more than once in previous calls.

Amount of the grant: The maximum amount of each grant will be determined by the Government of Catalonia in the decree establishing the prices for academic services at public universities in Catalonia for the 2026-2027 academic year.The grant will cover a maximum of the amount of the academic tuition fees for 60 credits of an official master's degree course at the University of Girona for the academic year 2026-2027 (30 credits for students enrolling in the second year of a 90-credit master's degree course).

Submission of applications: to be submitted online using the platform Banc de Santander (Santander Open Academy).Anyone interested will receive confirmation of the submission of their application by email.Without this confirmation email, the application will not be considered as submitted.

The application for the grant must be processed using the DNI or passport number.

Application-submission deadline:

Two deadlines for submitting applications will be established.

The first deadline for submitting applications will begin the day after the publication of the call on the noticeboard of the electronic headquarters of the University of Girona and will end on 17 July.

The second submission period will begin on 23 July and end on 31 August.

  • Applicants for the Erasmus Mundus master’s (FRP++, IFROS) will be able to request the grant provided they receive classes at the University of Girona.Contact the coordinator for the master’s for specific information.
