About the UdG

Euro-mediterranean Tourism and Water Campus

The result of the strategic alliance between the University of Girona and the University of the Balearic Islands, together with the CSIC and the ICRA, to create a network of regional collaboration around issues with a long line of teaching and research – water and tourism – in the academic world of both centres.

The internationalisation strategy received this distinction – of International Campus – in 2011, thanks to the collaboration and synergies with other centres from around the Pyrenees-Mediterranean region. Besides the UIB, Pierre and Marie Curie University of Paris and the University of Perpignan Via Domitia also took part in it.

After a positive assessment by a commission of experts, Campus e-MTA had its status of Campus of International Excellence confirmed in 2016. The Campus marked the start of an intensive policy for promoting sectoral campuses that cover the issues that the UdG excels in, calling on external agents and combining capacities for the future.
