Insurance policies for UdG students

The UdG has three different types of insurance policies for students:

  • School insurance. Compulsory for students of official study programmes who are less than 28 years old. It does not cover the students undertaking University of Girona-specific study programmes. It costs €1.12 per year.
  • Accident insurance. Compulsory for students undertaking official study programmes who are more than 28 years old, non-resident foreign students and students undertaking University of Girona-specific study programmes. It costs €6.65 per year.
  • Long-term mobility insurance. Covers students taking part in mobility and/or internship programmes abroad, whether incoming or outgoing. It is compulsory for the latter. The cost depends on the length of stay and the destination country.
  • Long-term mobility insurance. Covers travel assistance for UdG students taking part in short stays abroad. The cost depends on the length of stay and the destination country.

School insurance

School insurance policies are compulsory for all students on official study programmes under the age of 28 and which cover school accidents, family mishaps and illness.

REQUIREMENTS

Students who are less than 28 years old can take it out by paying the necessary fee during enrolment. This option is open to: Spanish nationals studying in Spain, students from Member States of the European Union and the European Economic Area, and all foreign students who are undertaking studies in Spain.

APPLICATION

School insurance is automatically taken out during enrolment.

These documents are issued by the National Institute of Social Security at their Information and Assistance Centres. The student must show one of his or her parent’s medical insurance cards in which he or her appears as a health insurance beneficiary. If this requirement is not met, the student can obtain a European Health Insurance Card with the enrolment receipt and a document accrediting the official study programme that he or she will undertake abroad.
