Week of the Health

UdG Health Week 2023.

We're holding Health Week 2023 from 17 to 8 April at the University of Girona, during which there will be sports activities in several disciplines as well as 30-minute online activities, so you’ve no excuses for not taking part. Sign up for it, you’ll certainly enjoy trying out its activities, which will get you in better shape physically, mentally and emotionally. All activities are free for everybody!

What is the Week of the health of the UdG?

To mark World Physical Activity Day (6 April) and World Health Day (7 April) - it’s a bit further away this year, because of Easter Week - we’re inviting you to take part in this year’s Health Week 2023 activities under the slogan 'Look after yourself - we're counting on you'. The event will be inviting reflection on the benefits of a lifestyle with emotional well-being, healthy physical activity and a balanced diet.

Aiming to promote healthy habits among the university community and Girona society, the Social Commitment Unit, the Sports Service and the Occupational Health Office have all collaborated to offer free activities, workshops and lectures to celebrate Health Week at the University of Girona’s various campuses.

All the activities are free, although Sports Service activities require assistance monitoring and registration. It be necessary to register there previously, for the limited seating of the spaces that accommodate them. 

If you are a student and want to earn POINTS to exchange for ECTS with this week’s activities from the Sports Service, you can do so according to your interests by specifically registering on the Sports Service web page .

If you are not a student but wish to take part in the Sports Service's activities, you can register with its website up to the start of the activity or all the places have been taken. If you are not a member of the university community you will have to send an email to anna.vinyolas@udg.edu with your details before you can register.

We encourage you to share your activity during Health Week on the various social media sites with the hashtag #salutUdG23

Important note:

As the activities are free of charge and places are limited, please book responsibly. It is indispensable that, if cannot assist, you leave the free square (it is so much simple as to enter into the web where you have registered and to cancel the enrolment). The registered persons and that they do not assist nor retire with anticipation they will not be able to accumulate points of the programme of Practical Sport and of Leisure.

Session where attention will be paid to your body, carrying out a whole range of simple micromovements slowly and carefully, in order to meet your own natural mobility, respecting your own rhythm, and keep on freeing yourself from tensions and blockades, thus. It is wanted to achieve a major consciousness of your body, to be more flexible and to coordinate different movements to reach a relaxation that it will make you feel better with you. Teacher: Joan Riera.
+Introduction to padbol (Mondays at 8 pm, Tuesdays at 6 pm or 7 pm, Wednesdays at 4 pm or 5 pm and/or Thursdays at 10 am or 11 am)

Initiate yourself into this sport that merges the sports of paddle and football in a same space. You will be able to experiment and practice the main techniques of the pàdbol, to know the regulations, among other specificities of this new sport. It is a sport that is suitable for everyone and which makes no distinction or discrimination over sex or age. Installation X3 Club Padel Girona. Domeny. Girona

A taste of MODERN JAZZ, GIMNOYOGA and DANCEFIT. (Monday 17 April, 10 am to 12 noon)

To start the week differently and cheerfully, we’ll have a taste of three disciplines for the benefit of the soul, body and mind. Physical, mental and emotional health are fundamental and all three go hand in hand. The aim is to discharge useless energies, empty the mind, laugh and feel well. The workshop will involve experiencing choreographed movements and dance to the rhythm of the music. In addition, posture and flexibility of the body will be improved, keeping the mind empty and fluid, reloading neurons as well. Teacher: Angela Pestillo.

Body Control is an express exercise programme (30 min) which combines Yoga, Stretchings, Pilates and Tai-Chi to train gently but effectively, for relaxing and balancing body and mind. The sessions are adapted to every type of public, therefore; each person works as agreement to its possibilities, following the optional postures that the instructor indicates. The class is aimed at improving the entire body’s flexibility, concentration, balance and strength and at reducing stress. Teacher: Arantzazu Castello

Express yoga session working through Vinyasa yoga, which is a very dynamic type of yoga where your body and mind flow from one posture to another: each movement is a breath. With dynamic, but slow movements, coordinated with your breathing. As we perform it, we will oxygenate our metabolism and warm up our muscles, generating energy. We will achieve a sense physical and mental well-being to finish the day. Teacher: Arantza Castello.

The Yoga Stretching is a method aimed at the postural correction while working on the stretching of various muscular chains and flexibility of the joints. introduce the full attention to the stretching to attend to your alignment and how really the positions are heard in your body. Many basic postures of yoga are very familiar, when we get up of the bed and pull the arms above the head, we are to make a posture of Yoga our bodies they bend and they are bent naturally.
