Electronic services linked to official degrees

Authenticated e-copy of university degree and online consultation of university degrees

If you already have a paper copy of your university qualification, you can request an authenticated e-degree certificate which will save you time and money with administrative procedures.

The official-degree consultation service allows you to consult and download the data on your university degree and authorise third parties to consult the degree.

Authenticate electronic copy of degree certificate

What is it?

Authenticated copies of degree certificates are part of an additional service that the University of Girona offers its graduates. These are electronically signed copies of degree certificates in PDF format that offer the same legal guarantees as hardcopy degree certificates.

What is it for?

Its purpose is to enable graduates to have an electronic copy of their degree certificates whenever and wherever they want and to manage their procedures at any enterprise, university or body that requires this from them, thereby saving them time and money.

At the same time, should a physical copy have to be produced, a printed copy of the document amounts to a certified copy of the original certificate.

When and where can it be requested?

It can be requested at any time after the official degree certificate has been collected, through the La meva UdG intranet's online procedures, by selecting the “Authenticated university certificate e-copy” option.

Once the procedure has started, two situations may arise:

  • Any certificate collected in person on or after 1 September 2023 will already have been digitised and stored by the UdG. So, once a graduate has paid corresponding rate, they will receive an authenticated copy of the certificate issued by the university itself.
  • In all other cases, once the graduate has paid the corresponding rate, they will receive an email with an authentication code for access the authenticated copy of the certificate provided by the company SIGNE (eTítulo). For further information, see the page ¿Qué es eTítulo?

How much does it cost?

E-degree certificates currently cost 30 euros. The price is established annually by Catalan Government decree. It is paid through La meva UdG online processing procedure.

What are its advantages?

  • Having an authentic electronic copy, at a very low one-off cost, throughout your professional life.
  • Having the possibility of accessing an authentic copy of your degree certificate from any part of the world with internet access and of downloading and emailing it.
  • Sparing yourself the need for travelling with your hardcopy degree certificate for making an attested copy or accrediting its authenticity, thereby avoiding not just the risk of losing your document but also administrative procedures and costs arising from applying for your degree certificate's duplication.
  • Enjoying the guarantee of a permanent electronic document, in contrast to your original certificate’s inevitable physical deterioration.

Consult university degree certificates online

What does this involve?

Graduates using this service offered by the State Administration can consult the data on their degree certificates, obtain it as a sealed document and, if they so wish, generate authorisation codes so third parties can also consult them. This allows graduates to demonstrate their possession of university degrees in a reliable way before authorities, companies, etc.

What are its requirements?

The following requirements have to be met in order to access the service:

  • Being in possession of a university degree issued in the Spanish State.
  • Having electronic national ID code (DNIe) or a recognised digital certificate.

One of the valid certificates is the idCAT, which is issued by the Catalan Government.

What are the steps that have to be followed?

  1. Accessing the page Consulta de títulos universitarios oficiales of the MCIU.
  2. Choose one of the two options: Citizen Folder or e-Office for the Ministry of Education. In both cases users need to identify themselves using DNI-e, Cl@ve or any recognised electronic certificate.
  3. If accessing the consultation through the Citizen Folder, go to My Data > Education and Training > University Degrees. In this section the data for the certificate can be viewed and an accrediting certificate downloaded with a safe verification code (CSV). A link is also provided to download a certificate of MECES correspondence (useful for official university degrees from before the Bologne Plan).
  4. If accessing the consultation through the e-Headquarters for the Ministry of Education, fill in the form for the register (if accessing the e-Headquarters for the first time) and click on the tab “Acceso solicitud” to view the data for the certificate. There is also an option to authorise access for third parties.

How is an authorisation generated?

  1. Click on “Añadir autorización” and enter the necessary data.
  2. Choose the PDF or QR code option from “Autorizaciones sobre título” tab, and send it to the person, institution or enterprise you wish to authorise for consulting your degree certificate.
  3. Authorised third parties will be able to verify the degree certificate's authenticity through a secure verification code associated with the authorisation.
