ECTS credits: sports subjects

You can enrol at any time during the academic year 2022-2023

Obtain up to a maximum of 6 ECTS credits towards your bachelor's degree studies during the year, from a range of over 20 comprehensive and sporting physical activity subjects. Enrol online by clicking on the subject you like best out of all the options you will find below. 

During the year, new subjects can be added since it is an evolving programme that gets updated throughout the year. 

 

Important aspects of the sports subjects:

  • Each subject is worth 1 ECTS credit (bachelor's degree studies) for recognised credit transfer.
    You can obtain 1 or 2 ECTS credits* (1+1 free) in the subjects of paddle, tennis and taekwondo. (*See conditions).
  • To get the discounts on the various activities , you will have to become a member of the Sports Service for the academic year 2022-23 before enrolling.
  • Remember you can become a member at any time through the website.

Introduction to yoga. Happy Yoga (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thur or Fri at 9.30 am) 1 ECTS

11 seventy-five-minute sessions for learning and performing the type of yoga you choose: vinyasa yoga, kundalini yoga or hatha yoga which will help you to keep your body in shape and train your mind to make you a strong and flexible person, making it easier for you to take on changes and stress. Postures, breathing techniques, meditation..., all practicals are aimed at boosting the well-being of student with high academic demands, strengthening health, emotional balance and internal balance. Introduction to the Kundalini Yoga (Tues, 7 pm) 1 ECTS

7 sessions to get to know and practice this dynamic yoga, known as the yoga of consciousness, which consists of simple techniques that anybody can master. It keeps the body in shape and trains the mind to be strong and flexible to be able to cope better with changes and stress. Posture, breathing techniques and meditation, all directed at fostering students’ well-being with their demanding academic schedules, strengthening their health and their emotional and interior balance. Introduction to via ferratas and canyoning (weekend) 1 ECTS

The course has both an educational and a practical approach and is aimed at anyone who would like an introduction to canyoning and via ferratas with maximum safety and guarantees.Course attendees will learn to recognise the different elements of canyoning/via ferrata and the basic safety techniques. Course attendees will be given the opportunity to experience a whole host of sensations... and they will also find themselves in a variety of situations, with the aim of discovering as much as possible about these sports. Anyone who successfully completes the course will be able to do canyoning/via ferratasj on their own, effectively and with maximum safety. The course is divided up into theory and practical classes. Introduction to Silk Power Aerial Yoga (Mon and Wed at 10.30 am or 4.30 pm) 1 ECTS credit

Learn to develop physically and mentally by practising Silk Power aerial yoga. Unlike other aerial sports and yoga disciplines, Silk Power is a proprietary technique developed by ELEments Girona. This technique is acrobatics-forward, without spilling into the realm of circus. It focuses on movement and body consciousness, posture biomechanics to accommodate everyone, high-intensity muscular strength, and mental and plastic flexibility and elasticity. It helps people to overcome their fears, push past their mental limits and empower themselves as free and strong individuals. Although each person works on their own elastic fabric, this is in fact a team sport. Only together can groups nail acrobatic tricks and postures that truly make an impact. The success of one is the success of all. Despite being a level 1 starter course, those thinking of signing up must be regular exercisers (weight training more than cardio), at least to some extent. If you have never exercised before, this course is not for you. Although it’s an introductory course, it’s still Silk Power aerial yoga! Instructor: Elena Pagès Garcia. ELEments IOGA AERI & MAT

Introduction to Olympic Boxing (Thursday 6.00 pm). 1 ECTS credit

Olympic boxing is a very all-round sporting activity that develops coordination, agility, stamina and strength. Boxing is suitable for anybody, regardless of sex or age. Besides its sporting benefits, boxing also increases self-confidence, providing a feeling of security and the motivation to go beyond one’s limits. This subject will be an introduction to boxing without any type of contact , but at the same time all the concepts of boxing will be put into practice. Teacher: Francesc Martínez. 
+Introduction to relaxation and mindfulness techniques (Wed 8 pm) - 1 ECTS

Introduction to relaxation and mindfulness techniques (Wed 8 pm) - 1 ECTS

7 sessions based on the contents of Yoga and Mindfulness to learn and experience different techniques and exercises that will enhance knowledge of one’s body through physical activity and meditation adapted to today’s society, thus reducing stress, improving night time rest and communication, correcting bad posture (by raising awareness), increasing self-confidence and self-esteem, eliminating backache, and enhancing flexibility and good health. Introduction to Unnata air yoga (Mon 8 pm) - 1 ECTS

7 sessions to introduce itself into the Yoga Unnata, which in Sanskrit he means high, spiritually as well as physically. It is a type of yoga that has evolved from the traditional method, introducing the use of an air acrobatics hammock to bear the weight of the body and to be able to do many of the positions with the body partly or totally suspended, using gravity to realign the body. This allows for improved flexibility to strengthen the body, lengthen the spine and relax the nervous system. It is a way of getting into shape while experimenting with the pleasure of yoga embraced by the hammock. No previous experience is required; anybody in good health can benefit from doing Unnata® air yoga. Teacher: Cristina Planellas

7 sessions to practice this racket sport, to get to know the rules, the basic structure and the basic technical and tactical aspects specific to this sporting discipline.
1+1 ECTS: this subject allows you to obtain 1 additional bachelor's-degree ECTS for free, if you enter the little league of matches among your fellow course students (minimum 8 matches). What has to be paid is admission to the facility for those who are not a member of the Sports Service and use of the track for each practice. Members only pay for use of the track by the hour.It is coordinated and managed by the Sports Service. Teachers: Coaches from the tennis teacher training college of Girona
+Introduction to taekwondo and self-defence (Wed 3 pm) (1+1ECTS).

Introduction to taekwondo and self-defence (Wed 3 pm) (1+1ECTS).

7 totally practical sessions working on flexibility, concentration, agility and accuracy when kicking. To provide the student with knowledge of good self-defence at short and semi-long distances, another Korean martial art called Hapkido will be introduced. This will be done at a very elementary level: strangulations, blocking, projections, and defence against thrusting and cutting weapon. 
1+1 ECTS: this subject it allows you to take out 1 ECTS more freely, if you attend the sessions from 20 to 21 hr that are made in the gymnasium a day to the week that it is not Wednesday (minimum 8 trainings). Coordinated and directed by the teacher of the subject:  The teacher, Mr Lee Jae Kwon, international teacher, black belt 9th Dan.

Seven sessions to acquire theoretical knowledge of tennis techniques, tactics and strategies through specific exercises and adapted games.
1+1 ECTS: this subject allows you to 1 additional bachelor's-degree  ECTS for free, if you sign up for the little league among participants (minimum 8 matches).What has to be paid is admission to the facility for those who are not a member of the Sports Service and use of the track for each practice. Members only need to pay for use of the track by the hour. It coordinates and manages the Sports Service.

7 sessions to improve your technique and know the specific tactics of this racket sport. To register you must have done the introduction to paddle course or have a high level of the game (this will be checked).

7 sessions to improve your technique and know the specific tactics of this racket sport. To register you must have done the introduction to paddle course or have a high level of the game (this will be checked).
1+1 ECTS: this subject allows you to obtain 1 ECTS more easily if you enter the little league among participants (minimum 8 matches).1+1 ECTS: this subject allows you to obtain 1additional  ECTS for free, if you enter the little league of matches among the participants (minimum 8 matches).What has to be paid is admission to the facility for those who are not a member of the Sports Service and use of the track for each practice. Introduction to canyoning (weekend) 1 ECTS credit

Outdoor activity where you will progressively learn the different canyoning techniques such as walking, swimming, jumping, tobogganing down slopes, siphons and descending on ropes... And, with safety always the top priority, you will discover wild, hidden natural paths with small caves, galleries and so on. It is essential to know how to swim. Teacher: Carlos Folguera.

Introduction to progression and safety on vias ferratas (weekends) 1 ECTS credit

An iron route is both a vertical and a horizontal itinerary among rocks, with various pieces of equipment such as cramps, handrails, chains, quickdraws, hanging bridges, and so on, which enable you to safely reach the areas most difficult to access. The course has both an educational and a practical approach, and is directed at anybody who would like a first experience in iron routes with maximum safety and guarantees.
