ECTS credits: sports subjects

You can enrol at any time during the academic year 2023-2024

Obtain up to a maximum of 6 ECTS credits towards your bachelor's degree studies during the year, from a range of over 20 comprehensive and sporting physical activity subjects. Enrol online by clicking on the subject you like best out of all the options you will find below. 

During the year, new subjects can be added since it is an evolving programme that gets updated throughout the year. 

 

Important aspects of the sports subjects:

  • Each subject is worth 1 ECTS credit (bachelor's degree studies) for recognised credit transfer.
    You can obtain 1 or 2 ECTS credits* (1+1 free) in the subjects of paddle, tennis and taekwondo. (*See conditions).
  • To get the discounts on the various activities , you will have to become a member of the Sports Service for the academic year 2023-24 before enrolling.
  • Remember you can become a member at any time through the website.

+Introduction to diving (Thur and Fri) 1 ECTS

Introduction to diving (Thur and Fri) 1 ECTS

This course is an introduction to the underwater world, where basic notions will be provided to carry out two dives from a boat. The structure of the course includes a theoretical part, which is carried out through the platform PADI, and a practical part, in which the participants complete two dives from a boat under the direct supervision of the instructors, with an additional focus on the protection and conservation of marine biodiversity in our part of the world.
It is important to highlight that the two dives from a boat will be made when the weather conditions allow for it, guaranteeing safety and the enjoyment of the experience for all participants.
Those wishing to obtain official certification are encouraged to complete an additional four dives. When the full programme is completed, participants will obtain a level one OWD diving certificate, enabling them to explore the depths of the sea up to 18 metres underwater in total safety and complete confidence.
In short, this course offers a thrilling opportunity to dive into the underwater world and explore its wonders, providing theoretical knowledge as well as practical experience under the expert direction of qualified instructors. 
To give participants user profiles on the PADI platform and ensure they have place, we need their full name, date of birth, contact number and email address. It is also essential that the participant attends the first day of class with the theoretical part already completed. Teacher: Fran Gómez (Piscis Diving, Sant Feliu de Guíxols).

Introduction to via ferratas and canyoning (weekend) 1 ECTS

The course has both an educational and a practical approach and is aimed at anyone who would like an introduction to canyoning and via ferratas with maximum safety and guarantees.Course attendees will learn to recognise the different elements of canyoning/via ferrata and the basic safety techniques. Course attendees will be given the opportunity to experience a whole host of sensations... and they will also find themselves in a variety of situations, with the aim of discovering as much as possible about these sports. Anyone who successfully completes the course will be able to do canyoning/via ferratasj on their own, effectively and with maximum safety. The course is divided up into theory and practical classes. 14-session Fit Ballet® course at the Escola Girona En Dansa. Fit Ballet® is a new concept of fitness and one of the latest trends in the United States and United Kingdom that merges the technique of classical dance with fitness. FIT BALLET is a discipline that is based and combines the essence of ballet with elements of fitness. The sessions will involve cardiovascular workouts, toning, strength, balance, flexibility and elasticity, as well as joint mobility. They will consist of small group methods and individual work on body awareness and stretching techniques.

Introduction to the urban, broadway jazz and/or sexy urban funk dance. 1 ECTS credit

14 sessions where you can choose the dance you’d prefer to learn from among "Urban", "Sexy Urban Funk" and "Jazz Broadway". The subject’s aims are: working body consciousness, learning techniques and steps on the style in question, promoting students’ self-esteem through group dynamics etc... Through values such as fellowship, liberation through movement, commitment and entertainment, the aim is for students to have an introduction to the world of dance and come away with good memories of the activity. Introduction to canyoning (weekend) 1 ECTS credit

Outdoor activity where you will progressively learn the different canyoning techniques such as walking, swimming, jumping, tobogganing down slopes, siphons and descending on ropes... And, with safety always the top priority, you will discover wild, hidden natural paths with small caves, galleries and so on. It is essential to know how to swim. Teacher: Carlos Folguera.

Introduction to yoga. Happy Yoga (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thur or Fri at 9.30 am) 1 ECTS

11 seventy-five-minute sessions for learning and performing the type of yoga you choose: vinyasa yoga, kundalini yoga or hatha yoga which will help you to keep your body in shape and train your mind to make you a strong and flexible person, making it easier for you to take on changes and stress. Postures, breathing techniques, meditation..., all practicals are aimed at boosting the well-being of student with high academic demands, strengthening health, emotional balance and internal balance.
