GINSA
Description:
proposed amendment to the curriculum has been included within the framework of the GINSA’s accreditation process.
Diagnosis:
Some dysfunctions have been detected in the curriculum where gaps in basic education have been identified in science and technology of food as well as a certain excess in the area of the engineering. This amendment to the curriculum will also enable GINSA's educational profile to be differentiated more from the profile of the Bachelor's degree in Agri-food Engineering
Appraisal:
The study’s accreditation report (June 2020) gave a positive assessment of the curriculum’s amendment. The amendment process has started.

GINSA
Diagnosis:
The GINSA's bachelor's degree currently has 4 optional-subject categories Internships with 15 credits ECTS, with 4 designations and different codes: Practicals in a R&D Department; Practicals in a Formulation or Nutrition Dept; Practicals in a Quality Dept and Practicals in a Food Safety Dept. To simplify and facilitate the tasks associated with enrolment and managing student events, a proposal has been made to unify them in a single Company Internships subject.
Appraisal:
The AQU accreditation report gave a positive assessment for the proposed change. The AQU has accepted the amendment proposal and the "Internships" new subject will start being introduced this coming academic year 2021-2022.

MMMS
Diagnosis:
There are interesting external funding options, such as the Erasmus+ programmes (KA103 and KA107 categories), for attracting new students to the MMS master’s degree. Erasmus+ students doing MMS master’s-degree subjects are currently not recognised as master’s students and therefore counted among the number of newly admitted students (minimum 15 students for course). This situation occurs in any of the following situations: (1) grants awarded only in one direction ("incoming" MMS master’s students); (2) grants awarded for mobility in both directions, where the UdG students are not MMS master's students and the "incoming" students apply to take MMS master’s-degree subjects. The UdG currently has no clear policy with the master’s degrees on where these situations lead to, but it is advisable for the UdG to remain active in such programmes so that it can gain a reputation throughout Europe and associated countries.
Appraisal:
The UdG intends to be more "international" at the master’s level. The current problems have been explained to the Deputy Rector for planning

Diagnosis:
It has been observed that numerous teaching resources were allocated to first-year practicals. For example, during the academic year 18-19, about 19% of the Polytechnic School’s credits were allocated to first-year practicals. Moreover, when there is a large number of students joining the studies after the September selection process, it is considered advisable for them to be divided up into classroom, laboratory or computer room theory and practice groups. The measure involves establishing 10 work-day weeks during the first semester and 12 during the second for the practical or computer-classroom activities of first-year subjects and assigning the corresponding credits using the 1ECTS/10 school hours ratio. The credits that are reduced in the practical groups are assigned to theory groups or, failing that, to classroom practical groups.

It has been detected that all maths subjects (9 credits) are concentrated in the first semester of the first year, which it represents, on the one hand, a very great load for the students who have to receive this all knowledge in a very short period of time, and for the other one added difficulty that the students can assimilate this knowledge in a semester
Appraisal:
It is currently pending accreditation of the studies, where the amendment has been proposed. If the accreditation report gives a positive assessment to the proposal, the amendment will go ahead, requiring analyses if an amendment to the report or simply a follow-up report is needed. It is not a serious problem (the current person in charge is an adjunct lecturer with a doctorate) but the management believes that first-year subjects, whose students are in their first year of study at the University, should preferably be taught by permanent professors, who have more teaching experience.

Diagnosis:
This is certainly the weak point of any study relating to the world of video games anywhere in the world, and in particular in Catalonia and in Girona. According to the report on Catalan Video Games Companies drafted in 2019 by the Catalan government’s Catalan Institute of Cultural Enterprises, "the video games in Catalonia are, without doubt, one of the most dynamic, creative and stimulating sectors of all Europe". The report explains that the number of video games companies in Catalonia grew from 74 in 2012 to 142 in 2018, meaning it doubled within a period of 6 years, and the trend is expected to continue in the future. However, the number of companies (142) is relatively small, down to a mere handful in the Girona province and only 1 in Girona city. In addition, if we conduct an informal study on types of video games companies, we will see that most are really small companies, with a couple of partners, and generally unable to take in students or graduates. This implies, first of all, a very low or practically zero offer of internships. And further consequence is that bachelor's-degree graduates, as a general rule, have to leave Girona, and probably Catalonia, to find work relating to what they studied or to accept jobs relating to aspects of what they have studied (e.g., To Computer Engineering), but not to the study itself, that is, video games.
Appraisal:
We expect, from the study, that this project will help to consolidate an entrepreneurial fabric in the world of video games that will create a niche for our students and the entire the city Girona within the framework of this cutting-edge industry. The project is currently at the assessment stage and seeking funding from Girona City Council, Girona Provincial Council and the Catalan government, with a good initial rating of the project

Skills are currently being evaluated based on the grades of the subjects to which each of the skills is assigned. This method is fairly accurate for specific competences, but it is considered a very indirect measure for transferable skills. It is for this reason that the aim is to develop a system that, using the rubrics of the EEL and bachelor's thesis subjects and the final grades of subjects, provides a more specific assessment of each of the transferable skills.
