External placements

External placements are an important part of the training process for students on the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. The aim is to familiarise students with the real professional world in order to help them develop the specific competences required by the profession, put the knowledge they have acquired into practice, and at the same time recognise and improve their own personal skills.

In the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, students are obliged to undertake practicals over the four academic years. As this is a course in the field of healthcare, and in accordance with the established guidelines, during the degree programme there are 12 compulsory practical subjects that are equivalent to 2,300 hours of work experience. These curricular placements are subjects included in the curriculum and they represent 78 of the 240 credits required for the degree.

You can consult the most common type and supervision of external placements in the placement subject programme.

Below you have information related to the centres where external placements take place, the number of students, and the type of practical classes for each academic period:

The UdG has its own Rules for the external placements of bachelor’s and master’s degrees and Rules for the external placements of the Faculty of Nursing.

If students wish to do more practicals, although undertaking other professional external placements is not initially envisaged, it is also possible to do extracurricular practicals.

The Faculty of Nursing has agreements with both public and private health institutions and centres for the organisation of external placements as part of the bachelor's degree.
