For some years now, the University of Girona Faculty of Nursing has had a strong network of international relations with other nursing faculties in Europe and the rest of the world that allow students on different courses to go on exchanges, thus fostering common studies with other universities. International mobility enables students to get to know other university and health systems, as well as different professional approaches. It also increases their multicultural competence, promotes personal skills such as confidence, decision-making, problem-solving, creativity and flexibility, and significantly improves their communication and language skills.
We are pleased to see how, every academic year, there is growing interest in doing an exchange period at our Faculty, an institution committed to an academic culture based on health and focused on the individual.
There are various mobility programmes by means of which you can come as an exchange student:
- ERASMUS+ for Studies
- ERASMUS+ for Traineeships
- PROMETEU
- SICUE
The Bachelor's degree in Nursing allows various subjects to be done in English:
Practicum 4
The content of this subject is developed in the advanced hospitable environments where clinical practicals are held, in several hospitable services, that enable professional skills to be incorporated and consolidated by integrating clinical practical with the knowledge, skills and attitudes of nurses based on principles and values relating to person-centred care. In all healthcare areas and at all levels where placements are carried out, while the usual vehicular language is Catalan or Spanish, students have a tutor who uses English as a means of communication to facilitate the student’s learning and integration.
Practicum 5
Professionalising practicals are carried out within the framework of this subject through a rotation-graining clinic in hospitals and other healthcare centres that enable the incorporation of professional values, healthcare communication skills, clinical reasoning and clinical management and judgement as well as assistance for people with more prevailing health problems in the areas of obstetrics, paediatrics, gynaecology, critical-illness emergencies, geriatrics and surgical wings. Person-centred nursing knowledge, skills and attitudes are also integrated into professional practical. In all healthcare areas and at all levels where placements are carried out, while the usual vehicular language is Catalan or Spanish, students have a tutor who uses English as a means of communication to facilitate the student’s learning and integration.
Problem-based learning (PBL)
It is important to stress that in the first, second and third years of the Bachelor's degree in Nursing, the Faculty offers the possibility doing Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in English through work on cross-disciplinary cases that combine the contents of the different subjects of each year.
