It is formed by a framed eagle, which corresponds to the former institutional logo, combined with the Gill Sans Serif font. This eagle, with a stylised profile, is reminiscent of the two-headed eagle of the House of Austria coat of arms that resides over the entrance to the UdG rectorate building. It consists of three highlighted blocks: the feathers, the head and the claws. The feathers endow the image with content and volume; the head, with a prominent, elegant neck and a softened beak, and the significant detail of the eye, transmits interest and a desire for knowledge; the claws are concentrated in a single stroke that accentuates the whole.
Use of the coat of arms is reserved for specific, important institutional events: the inauguration of the academic year, a new rector taking office, awarding honorary doctorates or student graduation ceremonies. Its graphic use may be authorised in other circumstances, where that might be advisable, through the Publishing Service.
