In 2011, the University of Girona adhered to the UNESCO/UNITWIN "Culture, Tourism and Development" Network, whose headquarters are located at Université Paris 1 - Panthéon-Sorbonne. This adhesion represented a firm commitment on the part of University of Girona participate in projects that the network designs for its members, including meetings, active research programmes, cultural activities, workshops, as well as the development of a common module on "Tourism Management of World Heritage Sites".
The representative of the UdG is Dr Dolors Vidal, professor at the Faculty of Tourism and director of the Chair of Gastronomy, Culture and Tourism Calonge-Sant Antoni at the University of Girona.
