Bachelor's thesis (TFG)

Documents

In the Degree in Media and Cultural Studies, the bachelor's thesis will have a specific learning process since it is not developed mainly in a classroom/group through explanatory classes, but through other types of activities. The fundamental axis of the learning process for this module will be implemented largely through the students’ individual work with the necessary tutor, in order to evaluate the level of acquisition of content and fundamental competences of the degree. The thesis for the Bachelor’s Degree in Cultural Communication can essentially be one of two main types: The aforementioned approach will follow the methods typical of academic work from the analysis of a subject linked to Communication and Cultural Studies. 2) Creative. The aforementioned approach will follow the methods typical of journalistic work in the broadest sense of the term, or in textual media, audiovisual media or multimedia. The aforementioned model will be able to respond to different models: in-depth report, essay, documentary, table of contents, etc. All students completing a thesis will have a tutor and will have to present and defend their work before a panel made up of the tutor and two professors from the Faculty.

In the Degree in Geography, Ordering of the Territory and Management of the Environment the objective is to apply the theoretical and methodological knowledge gained throughout the degree program to the territory. To carry out a territorial-based project relating to a real, specific problem in a particular area. That will require developing a project where the methodological knowledge studied during the degree is applied to that area. The project has to consist of two parts: A first part based on group work (group/class or smaller) where a discussion is generated in order to agree on the premises/objectives/strategies, etc. and a second part involving individual work, where the student elaborates analyses, diagnoses and formulates proposals. The final project will be coordinated by one or more lecturers but each student will have their own tutor. It will be evaluated by a tribunal chosen from the geography degree lecturers.

The bachelor's thesis consists of the student writing a paper in which they must use the knowledge and skills acquired during the degree. The evaluation will take into account the quality of the written work and the defence of it before a commission, in addition to the merit of the work carried out to produce the thesis.

The bachelor's thesis is an exercise in specialisation in one of the subjects contained in the curriculum of Catalan Language and Literature studies, and it must demonstrate the capacity to plan and put into practice research projects in the field of philology.

The bachelor's thesis can be one of different modalities. Generally, it is recommended to produce a paper that reviews and summarises a determinate subject (what could be called the state of the question). A small research project is nonetheless accepted.
The offer of places and thematic areas for bachelor's thesis will be limited and supervised for the study. Students must formally request the areas of knowledge and thematic areas in which they want to do the thesis. Likewise, they will have to formally request the teacher-tutor to supervise them. The definitive assignment of places will take each student’s grade score into account.

In the Degree in History, the bachelor’s thesis is conceived as a specialised work on one of the subject areas included in the curriculum carried out under the supervision of a lecturer-tutor, which will be written up and defended publicly before a commission. It should be linked to the placement in module 9.

In the bachelor's thesis in the Degree in History of Art, the student will demonstrate most of the skills they have acquired over the course of the degree program. It can be about any aspect of the discipline, either theoretical or practical, but always with the intention of presenting the results of an original piece of research that demonstrates the knowledge, aptitudes and attitudes that the student has acquired during their training and in the social environment in which it is situated.
