Diagnosis:
A review of the procedure for administering and analysing teaching surveys is required, as is a restatement of the questions that are made for suitably collecting students’ opinions and levels of satisfaction. Low participation.
Appraisal:
The "Guide for Administering Surveys to Students on Teaching Staff’s Educational Actions” was approved at the Quality Committee's session of 5/19. This document saw a change in the drafting of questions, divided up into two blocks: teacher and subject. Changes were made in the administering and statistical criteria established for considering significant results. The results will be published at the subject-teacher level. This document was approved by the Authorised Teaching and Students Committee and the Governing Council. This new model and procedure were administered during the first semester of the academic year 2020-2021. The survey process was implemented without any incident to note; we are waiting to carry out the corresponding dissemination of the surveys’ results. Description:
The drop-out rate in the first year has been declining (from 0.2 to 0.11) since the beginning of the Bachelor's Degree in Tourism, although the cut-off mark is still high and the performance rate in the first year (0.81) is high, which means that some students are not sure if they want to continue studying Tourism, as they don't think it's very difficult to pass most of the subjects in the first year, and they continue their studies but with the sole purpose of passing subjects, and they then struggle to pass the bachelor's thesis when they reach the 4th year. Students do not have great difficulty pursuing their studies from the beginning.
Appraisal:
The ISC for the 2018/2019 academic year made an improvement proposal (IAI/16/12G), which we redefine in two new actions: first, OBJ 0001951, the creation of a tutorial action plan (see point 5.1); and second, the definition of a new objective OBJ0001956 - To coordinate the assessment systems for first-year subjects.
