External placements

Curricular and extracurricular placements

Curricular placements are those that are configured as academic activities within the curriculum and entail passing the requirements to obtain a degree, in accordance with the provisions laid out in the corresponding curriculum. Students must have enrolled on their subject before they can do their curricular practicals.

Extracurricular practicals are those that can be done voluntarily during the academic year. While they serve the same purpose as curricular practicals, they are not part of the curriculum. However, they are envisaged in the European Diploma Supplement (EDS).

Curricular and extracurricular practicals are managed from the UdG’s Practical Platform

Students in the Faculty of Tourism have the chance to complete voluntary placements (extracurricular) throughout their studies. The maximum duration of the academic course is 750 hours. To guarantee education quality, placements are always validated by a professor in the Faculty before processing the agreement.

Students can opt to do their curricular and extracurricular placements during the same academic year as long as the total of both placements does not exceed 750 hours.
For both curricular and extracurricular placements, you need to enrol using the University of Girona company placement platform.

The placement period is formalised through a cooperation agreement. The student remains covered by school insurance.

Extracurricular placements will be subject to €130 of administrative management fees to be borne by the company. Non-profit organisations and public institutions are excluded.
