Meranges (La Cerdanya)

Can Borrell is a rural hotel with 9 rooms and also a restaurant located in the small population of Meranges (La Cerdanya). Established in 1970, with the acquisition of a farmhouse more than 300 years old and the creation of a small gastronomic paradise in the village of Meranges. They have 4 permanent staff plus temporary employees, and their company slogan is: "relaxation and very good food in a spectacular rural setting".

Can Borrell offers its customers the highest quality, with their own unique flavours: their philosophy is to provide an intense experience rooted in tranquillity, conveying to their customers the value of enjoying the silence and peace of an idyllic setting. Going beyond the restaurant and accommodation service, they want to offer an experience of connection with our surroundings.

Processes have been systematised, and they have an environmental policy aimed at saving energy and actively promoting responsible consumption.

  • Investments to upgrade facilities and improve energy efficiency.
  • Raising customer awareness of sustainable behaviour through awareness of consumption and energy saving initiatives.
  • During the winter, the indoor temperature is 21ºC.
  • They have solar panels for drinking water.
  • Sectorised electricity network to reduce consumption and a LED lights.

With regard to intolerances, food allergies, cultural criteria, religious beliefs and special diets, they have systematised processes for the preparation of dishes and specify details on the menu. Participating in the Sustainable Rural Management project, they have drawn up a strategic management plan, which has enabled them to systematise improvement processes. This also includes a complaints management policy, a transparency and responsible communication policy, and a strong commitment to the environment and to buying seasonal local produce.
