The Chair aims to promote research and knowledge transfer to respond to the current challenges facing society from the perspective of social, economic and environmental responsibility at all levels: personal, corporate and university.
Since its inception, the Chair has received the support of Cáritas Diocesana de Girona in promoting corporate responsibility in SMEs and, given that it is sponsored by Santander Universidades, it has joined the Santander Social Responsibility Chairs Network, a network made up of different Spanish universities.
The sponsorship from Santander Universidades finished in 2024 and in 2025 it was the turn of Costa Brava Mediterranean Foods.
The chair aims to influence the three areas of social responsibility and sustainability: In the economic sphere it aims to influence the promotion of the Social Responsibility of SMEs and to influence in this area the training of university students and other areas of the education sector. In the field of sustainability, it aims to promote works that affect its dissemination and implementation either at a territorial or university level, promoting good business and citizen practices, training in this field and academic awards for final bachelor’s theses that address it. In the field of solidarity, it aims to generate actions and synergies with local social organisations and training to understand and respond to the most vulnerable population sectors.
