Online presentation of the book "Educación 2050" in Brazil

On Wednesday 15 July from 5 to 6 pm Maria Rosa Terradellas participated in the presentation of the book Educación 2050, Construyendo hoy la educación de mañana (Education 2050, Building tomorrow's education today), written by Telémaco Talavera, Juan Carlos Casco and Fernando Barrena.

The event was led by Ana Lúcia Gazzola and was attended by Hugo Juri, director of the chair, Rafael Guarga and Juan José Salado.

Positive Buildings

This video shows a summary of the event "Presentació d'Edificis Positius" that took place at CaixaForum on 13 February 2020 at 6 pm. It was a wonderful event attended by about sixty very participative people. After the presentation of the event by the directors of the Chairs of Social Responsibility and Sustainability and of Health Promotion, Josep Maria Canyelles started off by presenting the concept of Positive Buildings. Afterwards, the floor was thrown open to all those in the audience who wished to make their own contribution regarding how to improve local communities or to share their personal community experience. The event concluded with a few words of thanks from the directors of the SRS and Health Promotion Chairs, the vice-rector of Territory and Social Commitment at the UdG, the leader of the town council, among others. Finally, the attendees were able to enjoy a buffet provided by the Ramon Noguera Foundation.

Sponsorship of the “50th anniversary of Anne Frank's Diary” sculpture

This video summarises the event that took place in order to sponsor the sculpture "50 years of Anne Frank's Diary", organised by the Chair of University Social Responsibility at the University of Girona. The event took place in the Dr Figueres Gardens in Girona on 27 January, International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The President of Friends of UNESCO in Girona, Dolors Reig, introduced and led the event, and Albert Madrenys on oboe provided the music. Maria Rosa Terradellas, director of the USR Chair, said a few words to support the sponsorship. Sculptor Xavier Roqueta briefly explained the meaning of the sculpture, how he had created it, who had helped him, etc. Next, different people read the fragments engraved on the sculpture written in Catalan, Dutch and Hebrew, and Mariona Ventura, Luis Lucero and students Ariadna Pallarès and Rita Ruiz read fragments from Anne Frank's diary. Afterwards, a diploma was signed, in accordance with the USR Chair’s commitment to raise awareness of the sculpture, making a commitment to love and value it, and to ensure that it is kept in good condition.

Finally, Núria Pi, member of Girona City Council; Albert Piñeira, Second Vice-president of Girona Provincial Council and Quim Salvi, Rector of the University of Girona, brought the ceremony to a close.

IV USR Chair Day Event

This video shows a summary of the IV USR Chair Day Event, attended by fifty people. It was held in the Generalitat de Girona’s Josep Irla auditorium. The event was presented by the president of the UdG Social Council, Rosa Nuria Aleixandre and the director of the chair, María Rosa Terradellas. Then, the President of Friends of UNESCO Girona, Dolors Reig, presented the project “Open sculptures” taking the opportunity to announce that the Chair would be sponsoring one of these in January. This was followed by the conference “Socially Responsible Citizenship and Territories” led by Joaquim Nadal, former mayor of Girona, and Martí Batllori, Secretary General of Càritas Diocesana de Girona. Afterwards, Martí Casadesús, professor at the UdG, and Dalila Escobar, researcher at the UdG, presented a study on whether or not the Gironès area is a Socially Responsible Territory. Finally, the event concluded with a buffet, served by the Ramon Noguera Foundation catering service.

III UdG Social University Responsibility Chair Day Event

This video shows a summary of the content of the III UdG Social University Responsibility Chair Day Event, held in Girona on 22 February 2019, with the aim of inviting all entities, institutions and companies in the Gironès region to participate in a study to show that this region is a Socially Responsible Territory. In it you will find interviews with various participants, and a summary of the conference given by Mr Martí Casadesús, professor at the UdG, director of the Catalan Agency for University Quality (AQU) and member of the Chair's Advisory Council, on the indicators for measuring the impact of Social Responsibility in the Gironès region. Also, a summary of the conversation between the former coach and former manager of the Spanish national football team and member of the Social Responsibility Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Mr Vicente del Bosque, and journalist Mr Josep M. Fonalleras, presented by Mr Francesc Francisco-Busquets, about the need for each one of us to be socially responsible within our fields.

II USR Chair Day Event

More than 100 people took part in the II Conference of the USR Chair.

The conference was held in the PCiT's "Jaume Casademont" Auditorium.

It was opened by the President of the Social Council, Ms Nuria Aleixandre; the Mayor of Girona, Ms Marta Madrenas; the Vice-rector of Territory and Social Commitment, Ms Silvia Llach; and the Director of the UdG USR Chair, Ms M. Rosa Terradellas.

Mr Antón Costas, Professor of Economic Policy at the UB and ex-President of the Círculo de Economía, gave a lecture entitled “The CSR dividend”, presented by Mr Francesc Francisco-Busquets, member of Caritas-Girona and of the Chair’s Advisory Council.

Next, Mr Martí Batllori, Secretary General of Caritas-Girona and member of the USR Chair's Advisory Board, introduced the author of the book "With added value". Mr Josep M. Canyelles explained the content of the book, which is designed to encourage small and medium-sized companies to get involved in social responsibility issues.

Finally, all the attendees were given a copy of the book, and refreshments were served by the Ramon Noguera Foundation catering service.

Business and Social Responsibility: Present and Future - Summary

In this video you will be able to watch a summary of the conference Company and Social Responsibility: Present and Future, held on 15 March of 2019 in Girona. It was organised by: the Chair of the Chamber of Family Businesses; Chair of University Social Responsibility; and the Chair of Young Entrepreneurs. The objective of the conference was to analyse the present and to look at improving the future of Social Responsibility. This video presents an example of responsible creation and innovation, carried out by the University of Girona's Chair of University Social Responsibility. Its objective is to debate the challenges posed by sustainability in university education, with agents outside the university - business people, social entrepreneurs, NGO managers, foundations, social organisations and institutions - analysing the knowledge, skills and values that students need to develop in order to be able to respond to sustainability challenges at the end of their studies.
