Master's degree in Employment, Employment Relations and Human Resources

Professional pathway

Supervised professional placements

The professional pathway aims to facilitate a contextualized update of the competences developed in the master in a supervised way, to orientate the student, to broaden their professional perspectives, to facilitate their integration into the job market and the development of their career. Prior to the start of the placements, the tutor of the master's degree will agree with the centre a plan of activities to be developed by the student that guarantees the achievement of the competences of the module and allows them to consolidate the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for the development of professional functions. The plan of activities will have to contemplate a sufficient variety of tasks that allow the student to practice a significant part of the functions associated with the professional profile of specialization.

Profile 1. Placements in companies

This type of practice involves the training and tutoring of the student by two tutors (centre and university) in the development of assigned tasks, reflection in practice, knowledge of the field and culture and the professional projection of the student.

Once the placement period is finished, the student will have to present a synthesis report of the activity carried out (approximately 15 pages plus attachments, if applicable), which must include, as a minimum, the following sections:

  1. Description of the centre of practices and of their activity.
  2. Description of the profile of the practices carried out: functions, skills developed, tasks carried out and level of competence attained (it is necessary to provide evidence).
  3. Analysis and contribution of evidence of the knowledge acquired in relation to the professional area and possibilities of insertion or promotion (similar centres in the territory itself and in other places, competence and cooperation, networks, persons and associations of interest and jobs).
  4. Critical analysis of the professional culture and climate of work (values, rules of professional performance, standards of competence and quality, professional relations).
  5. Comparison of the professional practices carried out with the national or international trends in the area of specialisation.
  6. Use of information and communication technologies (ICT) during the placement period and search for information about innovative developments that use ICT to improve the professional practice.
  7. Proposals of improvement of the professional practice that bring value to the centre.

Qualification of the placements of profile 1:

  • 40% grade from the placements report (master's degree tutor).
  • 25% assessment by the tutor of the centre (continuous assessment).
  • 25% assessment by the tutor of the master's degree (continuous assessment).
  • 10% justified self-assessment.

Profile 2. Realisation of a project of innovation or development

This modality of placements entails the accompaniment, the support and the supervision of the student on the part of both tutors (centre and university) in the realisation of a project of improvement or development in the area of the work, work relations and human resources that brings value to the centre. They can be of projects of evaluation (for example, profiles of jobs, work climate, psychosocial risks, needs of orientation, etc), development and implantation of organisational improvements (for example, plans of communication, reception, equality, policies of compensation, Corporative Social Responsibility, etc), design or evaluation of technological innovations, or any other modality that has a training character for the student and is agreed between the centre, the tutor of the master and the student.

When finishing the placement period, the student will have to present to the tutors of the centre and of the master a synthetic report of the project carried out (approximately 15 pages, plus attachments, if necessary), that will have to include, at least, the following sections:

  1. Description of the centre of practices and of their activity.
  2. Origin of the project proposal (how it was generated, who proposed it, to which needs or opportunities does it respond, how the needs have been detected/opportunities —evidence—).
  3. Description of how it has proceeded for the design, operating planning, execution and evaluation of the project: type of support required (documentation and information sources, persons, resources) and supervision of the project.
  4. Detailed explanation of the characteristics of the project.
  5. Feasibility and sustainability study of the project. Commercialisation possibilities.
  6. Social responsibility in relation to the project (values, standards of quality, professional relations implicated in the development of the project, security and health).
  7. Analysis and contribution of evidence of the knowledge acquired in relation to the professional area and possibilities of insertion or promotion (in which other contexts or similar centres in the territory itself and in other places the project, competence and cooperation, networks, persons and associations could be applied of interest and jobs).
  8. Critical analysis of the difficulties of the development of the project and how they have been overcome.
  9. Current or future use of ICT in the development of the project.
  10. Proposals of improvement for the development, diffusion, commercialisation of the project or its implantation in different contexts.

Qualification of the practices of profile 2:

  • 50% grade Project Report (Master tutor)
  • 20% tutor evaluation of Centre (continuous assessment)
  • 20% tutor evaluation of Master (continuous assessment)
  • 10% justified self-assessment

Profiles 1 and 2 can merge in a mixed profile (placement and project) depending on the interests of the centre and the student.

Qualification of mixed profile placements

  • 50% grade placement report and synthetic report of the project (master tutor).
  • 20% evaluation of the tutor of the centre (continuous assessment).
  • 20% evaluation of the tutor of the master (continuous assessment).
  • 10% justified self-assessment.

The regulations and entire document on placements can be consulted in the subject's intranet.
