The UNESCO Chair of Cultural Policies and Cooperation was set up in 2000, the result of a agreement signed between the UNESCO and the University of Girona (UdG) aimed at promoting an international initiative creating complementary relations with other UdG cooperation initiatives.
In focusing on the area of cultural policies and cooperation, the Chair brings a new line of reflection to UNESCO's Unitwin programme and broaden the UdG’s international profile, turning it into a meeting and exchange point and on the role of cultural policies in an interdependent world.
The Chair acts especially in the area of cultural management, international and territorial cultural policies, relations among cultural educational and political policies, human-capital training, development cooperation and cultural diversity.
