The CULTSENSE project (Sensitising Young Travellers for Local Cultures) is an initiative funded by the Erasmus+ programme whose main objective is to promote a more respectful, conscious, and responsible attitude among young travellers towards the local cultures they visit.
The project is based on the idea that tourism is not only an economic activity, but also an opportunity for intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding. In this respect, CULTSENSE promotes the development of innovative educational tools and methodologies that help young people to better understand the values, traditions and cultural contexts of the territories they visit.
The main results of the project include:
- Creating training resources for students and tourism professionals.
- Developing learning experiences based on real cases.
- Promoting good practice for more sustainable and respectful tourism with local communities.
The UNESCO Chair of Cultural Policies and Cooperation at the University of Girona has actively participated in the development of the project, contributing especially in the area of heritage interpretation and the relationship between tourism, culture, and sustainability.
The project was developed between 2020 and 2023 with the support of the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), within the framework of international cooperation in higher education.
