The Academic Model of the Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at the University of Girona (MAP)
UdG Bachelor's Degree in Psychology studies have, in recent years, gradually developed various teaching innovation initiatives structured around an Academic Model of Psychology (MAP), which is being rolled out in an integrated, progressive and collaborative way thanks to the effort of the teaching team, the students and institutional support. This model starts from an analysis of the needs of students, teaching staff and society that are related with knowledge and professionalism in psychology; an analysis of the current trends in higher education, from a critical perspective; the study of theoretical models and empirical evidence that underlie the proposed model; and European quality standards for university studies.
This publication defines the objectives and structure of the MAP, its main dimensions and areas of work. We hope that disseminating the model will have a triple effect: (1) recognise and reinforce the work being done in designing and rolling out the MAP; (2) promote involvement and debate among all the parties interested in developing it; and (3) make university education and learning activities more transparent, as well as the UdG’s commitments to students’ education, people’s welfare and the region’s psychosocial development.
