Trials, monitoring and scalability of a mobile abattoir for sheep and goats as a support measure for small farmers and the transfer between generations in the rural world

Actions

  1. Planning and adapting exploitations that must form part of the project, in other words monitoring that all those exploitations that fulfil the basic requirements have adapted their facilities to receive the mobile abattoir and guarantee the correct use of it, as set out by the different ministries of the Government of Catalonia.
  2. Beginning of slaughter and creation of routes, associated documentation.Compilation of the first basic data and striving for the correct functioning of the unit.
  3. Analysis of quality data for the abattoir.Procurement of the research centre that must ensure that the data obtained from the unit are studied and can be compared with other scenarios contemplated (conventional abattoir and mobile unit at a common point).
  4. Calculation of the carbon footprint: compilation of data relating to consumption of energy, water and basic products for the unit to function, to gain information on the sustainability of the process and be able to compare it with the previous situation (conventional abattoir).
  5. Traceability of the product from the farm to the consumer. One of the basic goals is to guarantee the end consumer the quality of the product, therefore a thorough traceability study of the product is conducted, and the best formulas for related information to reach the end customer.
  6. Study of cold room and butchering space. At present not all the livestock exploitations have a cold room and a butchering space. The intention here is to make it easier for those exploitations that wish to have a basic project for building these facilities, as well as basic budget for this.
  7. Disseminating the project, training needed and knowledge of the project and the results obtained.
