Languages at the UdG

If you are a UdG student

To enrol on a language course (B1, B2.1, B2, C1.1, C1, C2) in the at the Modern Languages Service (SLM) you will need to confirm you have reached the language level immediately below the one of the course you wish to enrol on.

You can do it in several ways. We'll tell you how below. 

If you have already taken a language level course at the SLM immediately below the one you wish to enrol on, you can enrol online: Enrol online

If you have an official certificate (German, English, French and Catalan ) of the level immediately below, you have to register for Validation of certificate (only during the period of enrolment) and attach your certificate there. To do this, read and carefully follow the following instructions:

  1. Enter the Certificate validation information and click on “Enrol”. Next, identify yourself with your user name and password.
  2. Attach your certificate using the “Attach certificate: choose a file” option. 
  3. When carrying out the process, check your personal details and make sure you complete the process ("Complete").
  4. You should receive an automatic confirmation mail.
  5. Check the validity of the certificate within a maximum period of 48 hours (Monday to Friday) in SLM dossier:
    1. If the certificate is valid, it will say “Validation + the level it is equivalent to". After that, you can self-register for the course at the level immediately above that one: Self-register.
    2. If the certificate is not valid it will say "NOT VALID". In this case, you need to sit the placement test (see the section If you cannot prove your language level).

You will need to attach the certificate for the results of the tests, describing your foreign language (English or French) note:

To attach the certificate, register for the activity Certificate validation, after reading and following these instructions:

  1. To register, enter the Certificate validation information and click on “Enrol”. Next, identify yourself with your user name and password.
  2. Attach your certificate using the “Attach certificate: choose a file” option. 
  3. When carrying out the process, check your personal details and make sure you complete the process ("Complete")
  4. You should receive an automatic confirmation email.
  5. Update your “notification email” in the Digital identity page.
  6. Check the validity of the certificate within a maximum period of 48 hours (Monday to Friday) in SLM dossier:
    1. If the certificate is valid, it will say “Validation + the level it is equivalent to". After that, you can self-register for the course at the level immediately above that one: Self-register.
    2. If the certificate is not valid it will say "NOT VALID". In this case, you need to sit the placement test (see the section If you cannot prove your language level).

The equivalences established with the university entrance examinations’ language test are as follows:

  • If you have obtained a mark of less than 6, your level is either A1 or A2. You need to take a placement test.
  • If you obtained a mark between 6-6,9, you are B1. You can register at level B2.1.
  • If you obtained a mark between 7-7,9, you are B2.1. You will be able to register at level B2 (B2.2).
  • If you have obtained a mark of more than 8, you are B2 or higher. You can register at level C1.1.

You will have to take an (online) placement test to find our your language level (A2, B1, B2.1, B2, C1.1, C1).You do not need to take a placement test if you wish to enrol on an A1 level course for any language or an A2 level Catalan course. In this case, you can enrol online directly.
