Entre els projectes competitius més recents es destaca el CAMPASTER finançat la Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission, and the funded MITOMED + for the MED Program, also belonging to the European Commission. Also notable is the participation of some of its members in research projects in developing countries, especially in Ethiopia and in the Eastern Sahara, as well as Specialisation and Territorial Competitiveness Projects (PECT), from Girona Provincial Council, with background ERDF funding between 2017 and 2020.
The ONIT has also taken part in more than 40 knowledge-transfer projects for enterprises and public institutions in several areas of the tourist sector. The advice and the studies conducted range from visitor-profiles analyses to tourist-product creations, entrepreneurial project feasibility analyses and competitiveness analyses, among many other things.
The ONIT has demonstrated also an important ability to disseminate research, which is done through numerous publications in prestigious academic magazines on both at international Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, Current Issues in tourism, Journal of Destination Marketing & Management and national levels Cuadernos de Turismo o Pasos, Revista de Turismo y Turismo Cultural.
The ONIT is currently a member of the Institute of Research in Tourism (INSETUR), together with the group of Multidisciplinary Laboratory Research in Tourism research group (LMRT); and plays an active part in several international networks and associations, including ATLAS, NECSTUR and AFMAT.
