Rural schools and education

Line of research

Rural schools, for quite some time a relatively forgotten or marginal topic, have reached a turning point to become a subject of interest to a small but significant group of researchers from different disciplines.

The rural school is approached from a mixed perspective - sociological and pedagogical - that races the evolution and recognises the complexity of what could be considered a small but great school. The Research Group on Educational and Sociocultural Policies, Programmes and Services (GRES) has actively taken part in the Rural School Interuniversity Group of Catalonia (GIER), collaborating with research and training seminars addressed to students studying primary school teaching.
