If you did studies for accessing master’s degrees in other Spanish State universities

All documents may be presented in Catalan, Spanish or English

1. National identification document (DNI) or valid passport
2. University degree or provisional degree certificate (where you have more than one degree, you can add them all)
3. Personal academic transcript of the university degree completed (only transcripts with a 10-point range score be valid)

If you did your studies for accessing master's degrees at a university outside the Spanish State

All documents must be presented in Catalan, Spanish or English or with an official translation in these languages

1. Foreign-national identification code (NIE) or valid passport.
2. University degree or duly authenticated* original provisional degree certificate
3. Duly authenticated* personal academic transcript of the university degree
4. Grades equivalence document for university studies completed in foreign centres. This document is available from the "Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport" website.

7. European Diploma Supplement for EU universities or certificate issued by the university of origin confirming that the studies done give access to a master's degree in that country.

*Authenticated documents presented during pre-enrolment:

Authentication generally involves recognition of the signature of the education authority issuing the original document. In some cases university degrees and personal academic transcripts need to be authenticated.

Authentication is not required for documents issued in an EU member state or in signatory state to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Nor is there any need in the case of Switzerland, due to its bilateral agreement with the EU.

Where documents are issued by a signatory country to the Hague Agreement , a single authentication or Apostille issued by the competent authorities of the country will suffice. Also in the case of Chile under a subsequent agreement. 

For all other countries, documents will have to be authenticated through diplomatic channels. This implies that degree and academic transcript documents will have to be stamped by the consular office and go through the following steps:

1. Present the original documents to your country’s Ministry of Education for recognition of the signatures they bear. In some countries, such as Japan and Brazil, the universities themselves will do this  
2. Once this has been done, you will have to present these documents to your country’s Foreign Ministry. This is the body that will take the steps to authenticate the documents.
3. Finally, the documents must be presented to Spain’s diplomatic or consular representatives in the document's country of issue for the authentication signature's recognition by the Foreign Ministry.

In the case of documents that have to be authenticated, an official translation will have to be made once the authentication procedure has been completed.

An official translation into Catalan, Spanish or English will be required for documents that have not been issued in any of these languages.

**Official acceptance of degrees and studies done abroad

Official acceptance of degrees and studies will only be necessary where you wish to re-access a professional master's degree.The University of Girona offers the following professional master’s degrees:

• Master in Advocacy
• Master in Architecture
• Master in Industrial Engineering
• Master's Degree in Teaching for Compulsory Secondary School and Upper Secondary School Education, Vocational Schools and Language Teaching
• Master in General Health Psychology

Official acceptance of degrees and studies done abroad as equivalent to Spanish degrees means recognising their official validity in Spain. Official acceptance must be applied for from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport. You can consult the procedure at the following link

In this case the documents that have to be presented for pre-enrolments will the original degree and its accredited official acceptance. 

Official translation of documents for pre-enrolments for university master's degrees

If your original documents are issued by your university of origin in Catalan, Spanish or English, no translation is required.

Should you need an official translation you have it done through one of these official methods:

a.- A sworn translator, duly authorised or registered in Spain. See:

• The Register of Sworn Translators and Interpreters at the Directorate-General for Language Policy at the Generalitat [government] of Catalonia.
• The list of sworn translators and interpreters appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

b. - Any diplomatic or consular representative of the Spanish State abroad.

c. - A diplomatic or consular representative in Spain of the country that the application is a citizen of or, where necessary, the country that the document comes from.
Embassies and consulates do not generally offer translation services although they are tasked with certifying corrections and accuracies of translations done through other channels. Documents are usually stamped for certification.
