The average can only be obtained where the mark for each of the two parts is equal to or more than 4 points.

The entrance test is deemed to have been passed if a minimum of 5 points is obtained from the arithmetical average of the general and specific parts.

University entrance test (PAU)

There are no changes in the general structure. The PAU consists of the entrance test per se (general part), which is compulsory and includes the general baccalaureate subjects and the compulsory subject in the modality studied; and of the admission stage (specific part), which is voluntary and applicants can do exams in up to three subjects in each call.

All the competence features in the exams carried out until now are maintained.Students’ answers have to demonstrate specific knowledge, a capacity to manage information by analysing, interpreting and describing the different types of sources, critical reasoning and a capacity for problem-solving in a broad sense in all subject areas.

The PAU exams comprise open-ended questions (more or less extensive answers), questions with semi-constructed answers (very brief answers, to fill gaps, complete definitions, relate concepts, etc.)and closed questions (test type).Test-type questions cannot exceed 30% of the exam.

Each subject area has only one exam; optionality is reduced so that all the exercises in an exam are compulsory, even though some of them may have some internal optionality.

In the exams for Catalan language and literature and Spanish language and literature, each spelling mistake is penalised by 0.1 point, with an upper limit of 20% of the overall mark for the exam.

In Catalan literature and Spanish literature exams, the penalisation of spelling mistakes is based on general criteria, with an upper limit of 20% of the overall mark for the exam.In that case errors are not penalised according to a specific scale, but the final mark for the exam can be reduced by up to 2 points in cases of very severe grammatical errors, very deficient writing and problems of understanding.

In the case of students with special educational support needs, with language specific disorders (dyslexia, dysorthography, etc.),a third of the established limit of 20% for orthographic errors in the language and literature exams, which amounts to a limit of 0.6 points off the overall mark for the exam, is applied, and no penalisation is applied to the other subject areas.

Check the FAQs of the Universities Channel.

Personal aptitude test (PAP)

Yes, it is a requirement at all the public universities in Catalonia (UB, UAB, UdL, URV and UdG) and the Open University (UOC) to pass the PAP prior to being admitted Master’s studies, and the test is exactly the same at any of those universities.

In the case of the private universities (UVic-UCC, URL, UIC, UAO), the PAP can also be passed during the first year of bachelor's degree courses.

Yes.

Not.You will have to wait until the following year, when you are in your second year, because to do the aptitude test it is an indispensable requirement to have completed or be in the second year of those studies.

Each subject area has only one exam; optionality is reduced so that all the exercises in an exam are compulsory, even though some of them may have some internal optionality.

Upper secondary education and advanced VET students outside Catalonia, or students of foreign education systems, can request the tests in Spanish and answer in Spanish.

Those students must submit a formal application before the PAP registration deadline and attach the corresponding accrediting documentation (upper secondary education or advance VET diploma, certified by the centre, etc.).The application can be sent by post to theUniversity Access Office, or by email to the Contact mailbox

Second-year upper secondary education students in Catalonia who are exempt from the Catalan Language exam in the PAU by decision of the Catalan Ministry of Education can also do the test in Spanish. If the centre has accredited and notified this to theUniversity Access Office, it is not necessary to submit any documents.

Students of the Valencia Community or Balearic Islands education systems can decide to be examined in Catalan or in Spanish. If they want to do it in Spanish, they have to apply to theUniversity Access Office, or email the Contact mailbox, during the enrolment period..

Check the FAQs of the Universities Channel.

University pre-enrolment

You can select up to 8 university courses, by order of preference.Check the university places

Not.In the September pre-enrolment call the only courses offered are those with vacant places from the June call (the admission mark June is 5.000).

What is the reason? The June call is when places are offered for all bachelor's degrees. They are then assigned once the pre-enrolment period has closed. If demand for a bachelor's degree is greater than the supply, admission mark is applied. If the admission mark is high, it is because there have been many applicants. The places are assigned by strict order of the mark.

For example, if the admission mark is 9.500, and during the pre-enrolment process the assigned students do not enrol, the vacant places are reassigned to the students below them; in this case, the ones with a 9.499 and following ones, by order of their mark.

The data can be validated during the pre-enrolment period and even after (a few days).Check that the data are validated some days before the places are assigned, otherwise contact the University Access Office via the Contact mailbox

You have to make a formal late pre-enrolment request in the “My requests” section of your profile in the University Access Portal, explaining your case and indicating up to 8 studies in order of preference.

However, you need to keep in mind that they will assign you place provided this does not prejudice any student who has requested the same course and completed pre-enrolment within the established period.

Complete the university pre-enrolment form on the University Access Portal within the set times.

There are two ways you can request access, by filling in the corresponding sections and attaching the accrediting documentation to each one:

  • The university graduates route, where 3% of places are reserved for each degree.Your access mark will be the average mark of your previous degree.
  • By means of your university entrance exam mark, which is the way upper secondary education and advanced VET students do it.

Check the information in the Access bachelor’s degrees by student profile.
