Academic programme of SUCCESSIVE ITINERARY (PARS) with the master in industrial engineering
The Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Technologies Engineering combines all the branches of technology and engineering – mechanical, electronic and chemical – and forms part of necessary training for becoming an industrial engineer.
The Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technologies Engineering will teach you the bases of all the areas of engineering and technology, such as designing, developing and analysing:
- Vehicles, machines and structures (mechanical engineering).
- Electronic components, automatic systems and robots (electronic and automated engineering).
- Chemical processes and environmental management (chemical engineering).
At the same time, you will acquire the scientific and mathematical knowledge to understand the necessary technical and scientific literature to carry out research and development (R+D+I) in any of these areas, as well as to interpret reports drafted by other specialist engineers. This multidisciplinary ability will allow you to lead cross-disciplinary working parties and work as a manager in technology companies.

The engineer's training in industrial technologies is naturally complemented with the Master in Industrial Engineering, which leads to the qualification of industrial engineer, a profession with a highly valued tradition, spanning back over 150 years, in both national and international companies.
Academic “successive pathway” programme (PARS) in Industrial Engineering
The PARS in Industrial Engineering highlights the training needed to become an industrial engineer. This is achieved by grouping together the Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Technologies Engineering (GETI), worth 240 ECTS, and the Master in Industrial Engineering (MEI), worth 120 ECTS, which completes the education received on the bachelor's degree and legally prepares holders to exercise in this profession.
The main advantage of taking the PARS is that the Master’s in Industrial Engineering (MEI) can start with the bachelor’s thesis (TFG) and some subjects of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technologies Engineering (GETI) still pending (at most 15 ECTS).In this way, students can complete the PARS in a shorter timeframe than it would take them to do the GETI and, having finished that, do the MEI.
When taking the PARS, after completing the four years of the GETI, students get a bachelor’s degree and can then choose to give up the PARS if they feel it is appropriate at that point.
In general, the PARS can be completed by doing the 4 GETI years and 2 years of the MEI.For students who make good academic progress may be able to complete the course in 5 academic years.
A Catalan Industrial Engineers’ Association recent slogan was “En tot i per a tot” [in and for everything]. It demonstrates you will be able to work in the main industry sectors:
- Machinery: from machinery for the meat industry (an extremely important in Girona's counties) to turbines and equipment for automation and control: robotics, automatic systems and communications.
- Production: production plant management, production automation, maintenance, pharmaceutical, energy and foodstuff production, etc.
- Materials: metallurgical production, plastics, composite materials (carbon fibre, glass fibre), waste recycling and reuse.
- Vehicles: production line and component design.
- Safety and quality: safety in the workplace, facility safety, safety in design, quality assurance.
- Energy: renewable-energy facilities, energy supply and saving and turbine designing.
- Transport and logistics: means of transport, warehouses and distribution and facilities management.
- Industrial management: project management, procurement, patents and corporate management.
- Industrial construction: steel and concrete structures, supply facilities, building and industrial facility projects, and site management.
- More specific fields: research and development and applications in medical and applications.
The unemployment rate among Industrial Engineers is very low since over 90 % deal with work relating to engineering and technology, according to several sources such as the University Quality Agency (government of Catalonia), the Spanish Ministry for Economy, Industry and Competitiveness and the El País and La Vanguardia newspapers. The infograph below summarises the most relevant job statistics.

Studying Engineering in Industrial Technologies will give you an option to access offers such as those from the Industrial Engineers of Catalonia employment exchange .
It is a natural step for PARS students to continue their studies by taking the Master in Industrial Engineering, the only official master's degree that qualifies its holder to enter the profession of industrial engineer.
If they wish to take another technological or scientific master, students can give up the PARS once they complete the GETI.
Similarly, those who wish to continue studying in the field of research after gaining a master’s degree can access the Technology doctoral programme.
Check out the opinions of the students who have already finished the bachelor’s degree and are now studying the master's degree: magazine Fulls dels Enginyers April 2015 (page 22) .
Through the following links you can access the calendars and timetables that correspond to this bachelor's degree.
The academic calendar marks the beginning and end of classes, non-teaching days, holidays, exam periods, and so on.The administrative calendar marks the periods to make the different formalities administrative.
All subjects have a practical aspect that carries a lot of weight in this bachelor's degree.Practicals are carried out in small groups in laboratories with equipment adapted to current needs.
Businesses play a large role at the Polytechnic School. As an electrical engineering student, you will be able to take up work placements through work placements. You will be able to choose between the more than 450 options that are proposed in each academic year.
You will complete your bachelor's thesis in the last year of your degree, demonstrating the knowledge you have acquired during your education.
The bachelor's thesis is an engineering project on the subject you choose and which you will carry out under the supervision of a lecturer. If you wish, you can complete this in a company or research group.
The business association that supports the Polytechnic School and professional associations of engineers award prizes every year to the best theses.

Examples of theses
Students can complete part of their degree programme abroad through the Erasmus programme, which enables them to carry on their studies whilst undertaking an international exchange with academic value in a European university.
They also have access to grants for placements at universities in Spain and on other continents, thanks to bilateral agreements, the SICUE programme and the expansion of the Erasmus+ Programme.
Enrolment for the 2025-2026 academic year will be open from 15 July, and will mainly be online, from any computer connected to the internet, using the self-enrolment web application. The following links include the steps to follow, the documentation to be submitted and everything you need to know for enrolment.
