In 1998 I graduated in Biology at the University of Girona and, in the same year, I joined the research group of the Laboratory of Genetic Ichthyology (LIG) of the same university. In 2009 I obtained a PhD in Biology from the University of Girona under the direction of Dr. José Luis García-Marín and Dra. Núria Sanz. In 2011 I got a lecturer position and, since 2016, I am Associate Professor in the Department of Biology. My research is focused on genetic characterization of fish populations to improve management and conservation of the natural resources. The main species that I worked with are Aphanius iberus (fartet), Salmo trutta (brown trout), Thunuus thynnus (tuna) and Gasterosteus aculeatus (stickleback). Besides, I have worked in the study at genetic level of the invasive species, Gambusia holbrooki (gambusia) and Corbicula fluminea (Asiatic clam). Recently I have also worked with the genetic characterization of populations of Erinaceus europaeus (hedgehogs) and the identification of hybrids (Atelerix algirus x A. albiventris) in natural populations of A. algirus. Finally, since 2020 I have been participating in the analysis of environmental DNA in water samples, in order to detect the presence of the invasive species Lithobates catesbeianus (bullfrog) in the Ebro Delta. At the same time, I have imparted theoretical and practical sessions at the university of Girona, mainly in the degrees of Biology, Biotechnology and Environmental Sciences, but also in Master's in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine and in Master's in Environmental Change: Analysis and Management.
