The project research will generate new technological and scientific knowledge in the field of the digital world, industry, space and defence. The goal of the project is to make the design, development and roll-out of VRT applications more efficient and effective, in terms of development time and the reuse of code, with the overall objective of broadening the use of VRT in areas other than entertainment. This extension will benefit other sectors such as education, health and industry, where VRT is not as widespread as it could be. The proposal of a general ontology for VRT will be a valuable tool for designers and developers, as well as for experts in this area, and will help bridge the current communication divide that limits the development of these environments.

As a final result, an expansion of VRT is expected. Moreover, the project has the goal of providing tools so that non technological professionals can use VRT, which will also benefit the sectors mentioned. From our previous contributions in the sectors of health, education and industry, a lack of technological skills has been identified as one of the main limiting factors for the use of VRT in real contexts.

Finally, the project includes the development of new strategies to adapt training to end users, which will also boost the potential of VRT and its benefits (reduction in time and costs of training, personalisation of tasks, etc) with a direct impact on training processes and final results.
