Catalysis is a basic area of contemporary science with a huge impact on our daily lives. It is fundamental in aspects such as energy, health, water and materials. The chemical industry uses catalysts in some steps of the production process of more than 80% of all the products it manufactures. However, far from being a mature field, catalysis still poses great fundamental and conceptual challenges.
One of the raisons d'etre for the Institute of Computational Chemistry and Catalysis (IQCC) of the University of Girona is the transfer of the latest research in sustainable catalysis to future chemistry professionals to meet the growing demand of the industry. To this end, it offers the Master's Degree in Advanced Catalysis and Molecular Modelling entirely in English. The aim of this master’s degree is to train professionals and researchers capable of tackling the design of new catalysed processes, integrating innovative synthetic routes that apply more sustainable, efficient and economical catalytic methodologies.
One of the most relevant aspects of MACMoM is that it provides students with a hybrid approach (experimental and theoretical-computational) for the design and optimisation of catalytic processes.
