The master's degree was established by the Organic Law on Education (LOE), under Article 94ff, which sets out the initial training for teachers in secondary education (compulsory and upper secondary education), vocational training and language teaching. New official measures subsequently regulated some aspects of its rollout. The master's degree is at present a necessary requirement for teaching at these levels of the education system.
