AI Connects

Evaluate it

The life of the subject

The outcome is also a time of reflection and AI can be an ally on multiple fronts.

Assessment activities

AI can support the creation of question banks, varied exercises, or assessment scenarios that test specific competences. This allows the teaching staff to have more options and save time in preparing tests.

Experiences at the UdG:

Feedback

Analysing open answers and detecting patterns in student productions is another area where AI is useful. It can summarise trends, identify strong and weak points and offer clues for improving the teaching-learning process.

Headings

AI can propose initial structures for headings that teaching staff can later adapt. This initial support guarantees coherence and clarity in the evaluation criteria and helps to save time in its preparation.

Self-assessment

AI systems allow the student to check their progress through automatic tests and receive personalised recommendations. This practice fosters responsibility and awareness of learning itself.

Process automation

Repetitive tasks such as classifying responses, detecting frequent errors or managing deliveries can be partially automated with AI, leaving more time for qualitative assessments.

Monitoring trajectories

Finally, AI can contribute to monitoring progress throughout the semester through developmental reports. These reports offer a vision of the evolution of each student and group as a whole, favouring a deeper reflection on the learning process.

If there are suspicions of bad practice and plagiarism detectors are used, we need to bear in mind that these only indicate a percentage of possibility and that they cannot be used as conclusive tests. We need to pay attention to possible false positives and false negatives.
