Engineering of Fluids, Energy and Environment Research Group- GREFEMA

Lines of research

GREFEMA focuses its research activity on the recovery of heat through thermoelectric technology in industrial applications, whether automotive or biomass. The research work is carried out with the intention of meeting the industry’s current needs.

The group’s main lines of research are:

  • Characterising and modelling thermoelectric recuperators. We have developed several thermoelectric-generator simulation tools that have been used in the design of thermoelectric recuperators in real applications. These systems are making an important contribution to the reduction of the greenhouse gases that are causing global warming.

  • Development and implementation of heat recuperators based on thermoelectric technology. Thanks to our acquired know-how we are capable of designing and constructing made-to-measure thermoelectric recuperators for heat-recovery applications.

  • Transferring our knowledge to the market for providing high added-value heat-recovery systems. Our main motivation is to produce a real and positive impact on society. Our research is therefore always geared to an authentic end, local-market solution.

Additional lines of research:

  • Renewable energy.
  • Energy saving and efficiency. Environmental comfort: indoor and outdoor quality.
  • Environmental noise and noise-conditioning of rooms, doors and windows.
  • Predictive management techniques based on lubricants. Modelling in energy, fluids, noise and vibrations with latest-software support
