Basic psychological processes and psychopathology

The main objective of this line of research is the research into the psychological processes involved in mental disorders and personality disorders from a dimensional perspective.It also focuses on the identification of risk, vulnerability and protection factors for mental health.In this line of research, research has been carried out with clinical populations (severe mental disorders and addictions), university students, convicted persons and the general population.

Within this line, the following aspects are investigated:

  • Socio-cognitive and emotional processes involved in personality disorders.
  • Psychopathology associated with personality disorders.
  • Variables involved in the risk of and protection against suicide.
  • Analysis of complicated grief and its relationship with psychopathology.
  • Relationship between traumatic experiences and psychopathology.
  • Coping strategies, adaptation, resilience and post-traumatic growth.
  • Identity and recovery processes in people with mental disorders.
