Animal Biology Research Group

Biological invasions

This line’s research focuses on the ecology and management of biological invasions and, in particular, on understanding the distribution of invasive exotic species and contributing to the development of new approaches to its management. The projects include developing future scenarios for biological invasions and studying the ecology and control of species such as the Asian hornet (Velutina wasp). We use sophisticated analyses, in collaboration with other researchers, to understand the factors that determine the spatial dynamics of biological invasions and thereby assess the changes in future ranks based on predictive models. Field studies are also carried out for researching the ecology and expansion of invasive species.
