8th of March is International Women’s Day. The IQCC has currently a rather favourable balance in gender ratio of staff members, both at the Master level (43%), PhD level (55%), postdocs (24%) and permanent researchers staff (28%). In order to celebrate this day, on the 10th of February there was the IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast IQCC Forum: Women’s edition, open to the general public organized by Prof. Lluís Blancafort and Dr. Sílvia Simon. This event was held globally under the auspices of IUPAC, the leading international association of chemists. This year’s theme was “Many Voices, One Science”, highlighting that science was open to embracing the diversity of people. You could find the global event website here:The event took the form of a round table in which PhD students and postdocs from the IQCC (Dr. Daniel Bosch, MSc. Aqza John, MSc. Hande Abes, MSc. Guillem Pey and MSc.Thalia Ortiz) shared the paths that had led them to research, each starting from very different backgrounds. The event took place on the 10th of February in room PB24 at 12:30 pm, and since it was a breakfast, we offered a small snack to attendees, sponsored by the Royal Society of Chemistry (United Kingdom). While the event was primarily targeted at undergraduate students, it was open to everyone.
