Presentation

The programme’s mission is to provide education and training on advanced research in didactics of the experimental sciences and establish close links between research and educational practice in science at all levels of education (infant, primary, secondary, upper secondary and university). It covers specific fields of study related with this area (health education, environmental education, education for sustainability, CTS, scientific literacy, STEM, school science, etc.).However, in addition to formal education, it also covers other areas of educational action: museums, nature classrooms, hospital classrooms, prison programmes, advertising campaigns, scientific communication and outreach, education in companies, and so on.It therefore covers a huge field that poses an infinite number of research problems, and requires the participation of specialists from a variety backgrounds.

This doctoral programme is aimed at future research professionals and teachers who want to facilitate the transfer of research to educational centres and non-formal education settings.

Learning objectives

The Doctoral Programme in Didactics of the Experimental Sciences is offered as a joint programme by the University of Girona, the University of Almería, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the Complutense University of Madrid, the University of Alicante, the University of Castilla-La Mancha, the University of Cádiz, the University of Córdoba, the University of Jaén, the University of Murcia (coordinator); the University of Malaga, the University of Santiago de Compostela, the University of Zaragoza and the Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea.

This joint or ‘inter-university’ character offers the possibility of participating in a broad academic community with education and training opportunities directed by specialists from different universities and facilitating joint thesis management within an organised collaborative framework.
