The objective of the optional module on Advanced Social Research Methodology [MARS] is the theoretical and applied knowledge of the methodology and the diversity of advanced methods and techniques in the analysis of data for social research, dealing with various methodological perspectives, both quantitative and qualitative. This general objective is supplemented by three specific objectives: 1. To guide the process of carrying out research work by establishing the criteria and tasks needed for their methodological design and the pertinent application of research methods and techniques to adapt them to theoretical models and achieve the rigour of scientific research.2. Gender is a central issue in our society. Gender is expressed and operates in society through different communication processes. This course examines how the concepts of sex, gender and sexuality affect the different communication processes and, at the same time, how these communication processes affect our understanding of these concepts. The course is designed to help students understand this connexion between communication, gender and sexuality through both theoretical and methodological approaches. Therefore, issues related to the construction of identities, representation in the media and the relationship between gender, sexuality and culture will be addressed.
