The Law on the exercise of sport professions means it is no longer possible to provide professional services without minimum knowledge or without a qualification of some kind (this posed a risk to people's health and safety). This law means that, as stated in the preamble, from the time it enters into force, the various professional sport activities in Catalonia will be carried out by people with a minimum level of training in their respective field. Naturally, the quality of the Catalan sport system depends to a large degree on this process of progressive incorporation of duly qualified professionals. Up to now, (to begin with the Law regulates four professions) graduates will be able to work as physical education teachers, sports monitors, sports coaches (in relation to a specific sport) and sports managers.
