2027 Grant

The terms and conditions of the Tom Sharpe Chair of Literature Grant 2027 have already been published, a biennial call from the CLTS aimed at promoting research and dissemination on the relationships between literature in the Catalan language and literature in the English language.

The Grant, endowed with €3,500, will reward the best research or dissemination project from a critical, comparative, historiographical, theoretical or any other perspective that contributes to deepening the link between both literary traditions.

The works may be written in Catalan or English, and must be between 50,000 and 120,000 words in length.The maximum deadline to present the final work will be 6 June 2029.

Applications must be submitted by email before 30 March 2027, at 12:00 noon (Girona time), attaching the research project, resume, and documentation provided for in the terms and conditions.The jury's verdict will be made public on 6 June 2027 on the Chair's website.

In addition to the financial award, the winning work will be published on the Chair's website, which will promote its printed edition.

The winner of the first edition of the grant, in 2025, was Richard Mansell, with the proposed work entitled “’I loved Barcelona, with all my weak’. The Irish religion and the sustainable city”.
