The Chair's Short Story Competition is a biennial prize: it will alternate, every two years, with the Chair Grant.
The deadline for submission of reports for the second edition ended on Sunday, 8 February, 2026.A total of nine projects have been received.
The jury, made up of Josep Maria Fonalleras, Xavier Pla, and Matthew Tree, will issue its verdict on 6 June, 2026, the thirteenth anniversary of the passing of Tom Sharpe, through the CLTS website.The literary quality of the stories submitted, the ability to generate humorous content, the basics and correctness and linguistic richness will be assessed.A positive factor will be if the story provides a critical look at recognisable situations and problems of our university system.
The winning story in the first edition was ‘The Welcome Speech’, by Júlia Moore Trias. The honourable mention was granted to ’The Club’, by José Antonio Donaire.
