Professor in Human GeographyDirector of the Catalan Landscape ObservatoryMember of the Laboratory of Landscape Analysis and Management Research Group Joan Nogué is Professor in Human Geography at the University of Girona and Director of the Catalan Landscape Observatory (www.catpaisatge.net). He holds a Doctorate from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and extended his studies at the University of Wisconsin at Madison (USA), under the guidance of the geographer Yi-Fu Tuan. He has been an associate lecturer at the University of Western Ontario (Canada) and a visiting lecturer at several foreign universities. He specialises in the study of cultural landscape and in geographical and territorial thinking, on which he has published (alone or in collaboration with others) ten books and numerous articles in prestigious international journals. He is Co-Director of the Landscape and Theory book collection of the Biblioteca Nueva publishing house and a collaborator in the Cultura’s supplement of La Vanguardia newspaper. For many years he has been the Co-Editor of the Documents d’anàlasi geogràfica journal, jointly published by the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Girona. For three years he was the Director of the International Seminar on Landscape of Menéndez Pelayo International University. He was the Dean of the Faculty of Arts of the UdG from 1996 to 2004.
