Interuniversity Master's Degree in Youth and Society

Learning objectives

The objective of the master's degree is to consolidate lifelong learning in the field of research, intervention and public policies among youths. It is an advanced interuniversity and inter-disciplinary course that hopes to bring together professionals, researchers and teaching staff working or hoping to work in this sector

The master's degree has both professional and research perspectives. In this sense, based on the subject areas chosen as part of module IV, the practical classes completed and thesis written, the master's degree will provide students with:

  • A detailed and founded understanding of theoretical and practical aspects as well as the methodology of work, the analysis, direction and management of youth policies, including all aspects that these entail in terms of diagnosis, design, application and evaluation of plans, programmes and projects.
  • Direct action with young people and youth work based on the integration of the specific knowledge, an understanding of this knowledge, their scientific foundations and troubleshooting skills in new or defined environments in an imprecise way.
  • The research undertaken as part of youth studies ranges from the epistemology, methodology and basic conceptualisations of youths through to the main fields of research: history, education, economy, psychology, social participation, leisure, identity, consumption, health, communication and youth policies.

The degree’s dual approach translates into two objectives that both orientate and define the skills acquired:

  • Offering advanced specialisation in interventions with young people and in youth policies.
  • Providing advanced training in research and youth studies.
