This section is part of the “Guide on ethical aspects for assessing research projects with persons or personal data” (Canimas, J. and Bonmatí, A.) and features a summary of the guidelines explained there in detail. These guidelines must be met in every research project that people take part in. This section is intended to be a tool that facilitates self-assessments of research projects by researchers and assessments by assessors from research ethics committees (RECs). Self-assessments are to be strongly recommended highly for raising the ethical quality of projects and speeding up the RECs’ assessment and approval processes.
