Health, Gender and Ageing Research Group

Presentation

The Health, Gender and Ageing Research Group (GreSaGen), GRCT0109, was approved by the UdG Research and Investigation Committee on 17 May 2022 and is attached to the Nursing Department. Some of its members have come from other UdG research groups and the Health Care Institute since 2005.

Subsequent to its creation, the AGAUR, in the SGR-Cat 2021 call for applications, recognised the Health, Gender and Ageing Research Group (GreSaGen) as an Emerging Inter-institutional Research Group (Institute of Health Care and the University of Girona) with the file number 2021 SGR 00757 in a resolution of February 2023.You can use this link to contact the IDIBGI RG.

The GReSaGEn is interested in health research, in health promotion, disease prevention, treatments and nursing care at all stages of the life cycle with a specific interest in the maternity stage. One of the main focuses of its work is mental health and mental disorders. At the same time, we understand that mental health is related to people’s general health. We also have a specific interest in gender and its relationship with people’s healthas well as gender diversity and gender violence. We treat gender as a cross-disciplinary aspect of all research with a intersectional perspective. In addition, we are particularly interested in ageing and in all its related processes, especially their relationship with general health and mental health. Finally, we are interested in researching the education and training of future health professionals and, therefore, in educational innovation in nursing studies.

We propose a multidisciplinary approach to research, a way of looking at people's care from a diverse, open and panoramic point of view, so we collaborate and share synergies with researchers of other research groups.

Up to 2024, the 10 GreSaGen members (5 full-time and 5 part-time teachers) had produced a total of 267 papers in articles (86 in JCRs with an average IF of 4.918), 11 projects and contracts as IPs, 13 supervised doctoral theses, more than 300 talks and communications at congresses and conferences, and more than 200 participations in books and book chapters. We are currently directing a total of 12 doctoral theses.

We like to highlight the mix of experience and youth among the research group’s members, which promises a good future.
