The Research Group in Molecular Microbial Ecology (gEMM) studies the ecology and physiology of aquatic system microorganisms, focusing on; the role of microorganisms in the biogeochemical cycles of the C, N and S and of organisms with potential for biotechnological applications; and on the characterisation of antibiotic resistant genes (bacterial resistome).

The gEMM is part of the Institute of Aquatic Ecology (IEA).
